If you believe there's a God that created morals, you can say they're rooted in God. If you don't, then you can still say they're rooted in morals. Neither one is wrong. The Muppets are about accepting multiple points of view after all. Many religious people also appreciate the diversity and acceptance of the Muppets. People subscribe to a lot of different viewpoints at once, which balances life out quite nicely.

Well one of those points of view has to be wrong, we just don't know for certain which. The existence of God is either true or false, but it's not as easy as proving that the sky is blue. Either way, saying that the muppets are rooted in religion because of morality implies that those who don't believe in God are some how immoral and unable to "get" the muppets.

For me, it doesn't imply that at all. I think everyone has morals, they just disagree about where they came from. In this case, I say live and let live. It's about different points of view, not just one, which is what the Muppets are about. I don't mind if someone mentions God or if they don't. That is what acceptance and tolerance means. (And what they've been teaching on Sesame Street for years and years hehe).

But it's definitely off topic and I've said all I wanted to say, bye!

Oops, in my post I omitted a word by mistake. My laptop gets a little tweaky sometimes. I said, "I agree with singling just out one over the others." but I meant that I don't agree with singling just out one perspective over the others. Sorry about that. I think anyone reading it got what I'd intended anyway. :embarrassed:

But I firmly believe in the Muppets having a multicultural heartbeat to them. Over the past decade or so the Muppets seem to have had some ill-fitting elements added to them and a few core niceties shaved away until the new Muppets.com. It appears to be 99% Muppety goodness - the stuff fans have always loved them for. No substitutes or filler added.

Yeah I figured that, hehe. No worries, it happens to me all the time, lol.

*Ahem... Since someone brought the same kind of thread derailment in the one about "We Have Four Years Left", I'd like to remind all here to please not get weighed down into a debate on principles that might lead to a fight we would all wish to avoid. So um, please post about the new muppets.com website... Even if some of us still can't access the thing because it takes us to two Disney Guest Services links.

Thanks, hope this helps and good night to everyone who's still posting here this late.
