honestly? i didn't say Indianapolis because i'm from here. i said it because i was at Celebration back in May. i never realized that Indy had that good of a convention center until that point. what i found out later was that that was the whole idea. apparantly several years ago, the city decided to play to conventions, being in the mid-west, and closer to the middle than, say NY. So they built up downtown with that in mind. there are lots of restaraunts, LOTS of hotels, and lots of room at the Convention Center, which is attached to the Hoosier (RCA) Dome, where the Colts play. It's not only held Celebration, but GenCon is moving there next year. even most of the flights to indy are non-stop!

okay, done now...

NYC for me!

I am happy that Muppet Fest II will be in NY. I hope that I get to go.

It's a good thing that it isn't coming to Cincinnati...we have riots here!

Ya know, the prizes were donated. They were donated by the same people who paid all the expenses realted to the Muppet Central button give away. The same two people who cover all the costs of running Muppet Central and providing a forum where we can all get together and talk. It ain't easy to keep all of this together and putting the Muppet Central Get Together together, long distance, was no small task. All and all it is a pretty thankless job. Had I been in charge, there probably wouldn't have been prizes at all. Or if there had been, they probably would have been lame little computer generated certificates. IMHO Phillip and Cindy deserve out gratitude and not griping that they didn't cough up better prizes.

I know exactly what you mean and agree, but it is misleading to put all the costs for Muppet Central as a whole onto Phil and Cindy seeing as the site does (or should theoretically) make money from the store and other affiliates to help with things. I know what you mean though by replying to his post and quite rightly so - it was an honourable thing providing those prizes/badges and all kudos to P&C, maybe he didn't know that it was an unofficial thing independant of Henson but it certainly deserved the response it got.

I don't want to intrude and this certainly isn't any kind of statement on whats been done in the past, but seeing as we are on the subject, if Muppetfest happens, and Phil and Cindy are ok with it, i'd love to donate a prize or some money to pay for a prize for next time, whether i can make it or not. Kinda a 'Penguin Memorial' from the ol' Lukester ! If someone can get back to me nearer the time i'd be glad to arrange it.

If you don't try REALLY REALLY HARD to make it to MuppetFest, I will smack you in the back of the head with my rubber chicken...um...like in a hundred years when I can afford to get over there where you are...or--something...

MuppetFest

I just wanna say that it's really awesome that MuppetFest is in NYC. You know at first I wanted the convention to be in my home state, which is PA, but I think it's cool that it'll be in New York. As long as the state is close to my state.

It might not be NYC though, i've heard on good authority they've been looking at places a short distance away. East Coast is what they are aiming for, New York if at all possible .... but don't take that as a 'given' because it's DEFINTELY not the only option right now.

I suspect they want to stick as close to NYC as they can while keeping costs down. NYC offers all the Sesame Street folk and the Henson offices, which saves on travel and accomodation expenses for Henson-related participants. But NYC can be an awfully expensive vacation. I expect they are trying to find some place with reasonable-ish hotel rates and a convention location that will not infalte the cost of tickets too much. Muppet fans aren't really known for being made of money. But there are tons of options in the general area around NYC.

NYC as Muppetfest 2003 is expected, and has so many great oppurtunities. Could we expect Rudman, Brill, and Spinney? ack, and dare i say....Oz? just the fact we could possibly have Telly would be too cool for me!

Dang, if they're having trouble figuring out a place to hold MF, we can just have it in my backyard...

However, I think it might be up to y'all to find a place to stay (I can probably put a few of you in the shed, maybe hide some in my brother and sister's rooms, as well as my closet and our basement)...
