Muppet Show Muppets on Sesame Street

While I was getting my haircut a month or so ago, I was talking about the Muppets with my hairdresser, who is just about the same age as me, and she had recalled Miss Piggy being on Sesame Street. I promptly explained that Miss Piggy was on The Muppet Show, not SS, and then declared that she would not have made a very good educator for children because, "She was a b***h."

I then thought about it and wondered if there were any Muppet Show characters, besides, of course, this gentleman right here I could see as children's educators, i.e. making Sesame Street appearances. Honestly, the only one I could see
on Sesame Street is Fozzie Bear, probably doing a lecture with Kermit like the ones Grover used to interrupt all the time.

Which reminds me, how come Muppets like Fozzie never appeared on Sesame Street?

The only Muppet Show characters to be on SS are:

Manah Manah (renamed Bip Bopadotta, and with different appearances)

Kermit (goes without saying)

Rowlf (only in one segment)

Beautiful Day Monster

and various Chickens before they redesigned SS chickens. There were a couple other animals from TMS too, and they're mostly seen in the "Italian Street Song" Opera Number from the late 80's.

Other than the animals, all were pre-existing characters that were absorbed into the Muppet show.

There was a picture of Miss Piggy in one skit, and a couple reference to her, but nothing more.

oh my remember beatiful day monster i forgot about him for a while . hehe i can belive that i did because i liked what him when i first saw him on the muppet show keke and then i was so delighted when he came on sesme street fror a while .

ok as for miss piggy hahaha i hate to say this when i she is my faverite muppet but i could not see her on sesme street as because of her attidude i mean and i one other thing that i hate to say this about ME, BUT THAT IS WHAT I LIKE ABOUT HER MOST OF THE TIME HAHA.
That finally out in the open about me and the muppets but she does have a good side and that is what makes her great in my book is that she can go from bad to good so fast but at times don't we all haha just kidding really .

The funny thing is i think that is what i like about her i mean the good to bad temper that she has really shows in the muppet babies hehe . Love it very much my all time faverite henson show .

I always wondered why Jim Henson never wanted several of the characters from The Muppet Show come make an appearance on Sesame Street. Certainly several Sesame Street characters did turn up on The Muppet Show on a few occasions.

I mean could you imagine if Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem made an appearance. Or Crazy Harry blowing all sorts of stuff up on Sesame Street, like if Oscar tells Harry to scram. Or Robin visiting Kermit on Sesame Street and meeting all of Kermit's human and muppet friends like Linda, Bob, Gordon, Forgetful Jones, Big Bird, etc.

There was also Butch the Tiger, and in one Newsflash segment, Kermit was with a bunch of pigs at a farm. He says to one of them "You remind me of someone, but I just can't figure out who"

And if this counts, the Yips Yips saw three pigs...in space.

I also always though it would have been cool to take things in the other direction...Big Bird's preschool mind expressing curiosity about all of the interesting events and equipment in the Muppet Show theater, Oscar grousing in the balcony with kindred spirits Statler and Waldorf, Grover effusing about the wonderfulness of it all...you get the idea. I think the humor could have worked quite well, and it would have been a great vehicle to introduce Sesame Street fans to the more "grown up" Muppets.
