I also always though it would have been cool to take things in the other direction...Big Bird's preschool mind expressing curiosity about all of the interesting events and equipment in the Muppet Show theater, Oscar grousing in the balcony with kindred spirits Statler and Waldorf, Grover effusing about the wonderfulness of it all...you get the idea. I think the humor could have worked quite well, and it would have been a great vehicle to introduce Sesame Street fans to the more "grown up" Muppets.

Although I don't have the link in front of me, I've seen a few YouTube clips of Big Bird's appearance on the Muppet Show. Your description of how Big Bird reacted was perfect; search over there and take a look for yourself.

Well thanks for the heads up! Since the Muppet Show was a bit before my time, I've not yet seen every episode (though I'm working my way toward collecting them all on DVD...:big_grin:). There is indeed some good Big Bird stuff there on YouTube, including some heartstring-tugging footage from Jim Henson's memorial.
