I see this has pretty much been turned into a women's only thread, lol.
My first instinct reading this was, "That's not true, I'm here too!" But then I remembered I'm a girl. Hahaha!

Yeah I should really become a member of this thread. I'm trying really hard to lose some weight right now. I have hypothyroidism due to a surgery I had when I was a teen (had a tumour and had to get my thyroid removed :embarrassed: ). Though it doesnt actually cause weight gain, it does make it very, very hard to lose weight. Also as some people know I'm not exactly the most healthy person ever & always getting sick, so my weight fluxuates alot. And I started a medication that led me to gain about 20 pounds. I thought I would balance out and lose it again but that never happened.

My trouble is my diet... I'm a student that has not alot of money. So I don't eat very much. And when I do, it's not always stuff that's good for me, though I do try. I walk everywhere and barely take the car/bus so I'm not convinced exercising is the issue. I just weight alot more than someone my (small) height probably should. :/

Well, went food shopping today. (Yay SNAP benefits!) Got lots of healthy snacks, carrots w/ lite ranch dressing, red apple slices w/ low fat cinnamon vanilla dip, 100 calorie Oreo crisps. No soda! (unless you count an 8 pack of 7.5 oz "mini" cans of Sprite Zero for myself bad soda...=) )

Also got lots of juice too. Red grapefruit & orange juice. Caprisun juice drinks (wild cherry & tropical morning flavors)

Got a lot more healthy things as well too....just can't think of them right now.

Welcome to the Weight Loss Challenge Thread Mrs.P!
(I tried posting yesterday but somehow the site stopped working for an hour or so just as I was posting. )
So,let's start at the beginning: I didn't know you had a tumor & needed your thyroid removed! That's scary! I hope you're feeling better now! You said you're on a medication that makes you gain weight. Any chance you can talk to your doctor about putting you on a different medication that could help you lose weight?
OK.....now next thing...walking:Good for you! So there's no problem there. Eating stuff that you shouldn't is. (but you know that) Do you like fruit? Veggies? (I'm sorry if I sound like I'm giving the 3rd degree here, but I'm trying to help) I have another question:Are you diabetic? The reason I ask is because they have low calorie & low sugar cookies ice cream & all other low calorie snacks. And they're good! Finally do they have Fruit 2o in Canada? It's a fruit flavored water with NO calories! I've been singing the praises of it since this thread started! It's WONDERFUL!
Now..being on diets can be monotonous. So you're allowed to cheat a little every once in awhile. Just don't go overboard!
Here's a funny story for everyone:
When I was told I need to go on a diet & might possibly get diabetes, a few weeks later my sister (out of the goodness of her heart.) got me low sugar chocolates. Naturally I thanked her.But when I looked on the calorie content it said 300 calories! I was ready to throw the bag in the garbage! My mother told me it wasn't 300 calories a piece;it was 300 calories in the whole bag.So that meant about a little more that 70 calories a piece. THAT made me feel better!

YAAAYY! Go Sara..Go Sara........ have you seen the Fruit 2o around your stores?Or maybe try stores that sell things in bulk(like Sam's Club or Price Club) If you don't want the Fruit 2o's that's fine too!

The golden rule is always in moderation. I go to Chili's two or three times a month and I pig out. But you can't just give everything up, and having a super-greasy-fatty meal every once in awhile okay, if it really only is once in awhile.

My wife and I swore off all eating out until Memorial Day weekend though to make the final push for swimsuit season. We're both on track to hit our goal weights by then if we keep up our current pace.

We went to Subway last night for dinner though, because you know; "eat fresh" and everything. But we did foot longs instead of 6", and even with the light dressings, each meal came out to over 1000 calories! :embarrassed::concern::eek:

This thread is super helpful though, guys, and we're all doing great!

Found a neat trick for a dessert. I had one of those Healthy Choice meals (Bacon & Cheddar chicken w/ broccoli & califlower) but no dessert!

I'm one of those people, I have to have something sweet! But rather then get an apple pak or oreo crisps; I made up something really neat.

1 Jello sugar-free 10-calorie gel cup, and add to it 2 tablespoons of Land O Lakes sugar-free whipped topping! That makes a nice little dessert for only 30 calories!

I've also started charting my calorie intake on paper. (It's easier then online.) I can post here the image I created to do so, so it'll be easier for anyone who wants to use it!

Calorie Chart

Just click the link above, to be taken to my new flickr page, and you can print it out yourself!

There's ALWAYS room for Jell-O!

The light dessert with fresh fruit taste!

With Drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrream Whip on top!

At only 14 calories per tablespoon, it has more than just the flavor of whipped cream!

Oh, sorry... I was quoting a cheesy commercial the cast of Hogan's Heroes did for Jell-O and Dream Whip.
