This is great news. I'm glad they're going through with another Dreamworks cartoon. They've been doing quite well with them (even though they seem to refuse to release Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness on DVD). This will give the movie a much needed shot in the arm, since Dreamworks doesn't want a sequel because they felt it "underperformed in international markets." And considering the merchandise was impossible to get, hopefully a toy deal is in order as well.

To date, the DreamWorks movie franchises that have been made into TV series include The Penguins of Madagascar spin-off and Kung Fu Panda on Nick, in addition to CN's Dragons: Riders/Defenders of Berk, which is a spin-off from How to Train Your Dragon...

So far, the Shrek series has resulted in two holiday specials: Scared Shrekless and Shrek the Halls (for Halloween and Christmas, respectively); if Shrek were to be made into an animated series, I'm wondering if DreamWorks would air it on CN or Nick, since Dragons: Riders/Defenders of Berk is the first DW spin-off to air outside of Nick.....

Oh god...BOB Better not be like that the whole show. I don't remember him being like that in the movie. He was an idiot, but not like that. Or maybe I just don't remember correctly since I didn't really like the movie.

And for what its worth, Dragons isn't all that good. Its ok, but it seems like they don't know where to go with the show

Err... It seems more likely the trailer used clips of him out of context, not to mention how they're really pushing him in that commercial making him sound far childish than he ought to be. But then again, they did that with the movie too. I'm sure in context, he's the same character. I could see him doing the binocular joke in the film.

And the trailer with him doing that for the movie turned me off from seeing it until I saw it on tv. This trailer did the same thing. I now have absolutely no interest after seeing the trailer. But then again, I didn't have much interest anyway.

*shrugs*

Monsters Vs Aliens as a movie I wasn't going to bother with. Then I saw it and immediately regretted not spending the extra money and going to a big theater and seeing it in 3-D. That's why I hate trailers. They're supposed to take the lowest common denominator jokes, redub them in places where they shouldn't, and show things completely out of context. And it makes the movie/TV show look all the worse for it.

I'm very excited about this show, myself. This has quite a bit of potential, even though it's likely going to be a monster of the week type deal. though I just can't picture anyone being half as funny as Steven Colbert in the president's role.

I'd severely doubt that. They rarely do when it comes to these shows. Though, I could list some examples of actors that reprised their roles in the animated series. I like how Penguins of Madagascar actually reversed that and upgraded the animators that voiced 2 of the Penguins with professional animation voice actors. Jeff Glenn Bennet is actually better as Kowalski. And Lucy Liu did come back as Viper for Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness. And while it doesn't really count, Monkey is voiced by the same guy who played Jackie Chan in Jackie Chan Adventures.

It would be too expensive, and these celebs are too busy with other things to continue their characters.

Hm...you know, after thinking about it...my track record for Dreamworks shows verses movies weighs in favor of the shows.

I can't say I really liked Madagascar or Kung Fu Panda. I was actually really disappointed with KFP. 2 I liked a little better, but the first one didn't do much for me. i guess because of all these people raving about it I was expecting it to be this solid gold masterpiece. And I'm a fan of Jack Black, too...but I do like the show much more than the movie. Same with Penguins

And yet I liked HtTYD and was disappointed with the show.

Anyway, maybe I might actually enjoy the show if I give it a chance, since it seems like I like the shows of the movies I didn't...
