What are your favorite comfort/hoilday foods?

I love hot apple cider and hot coco, deep fried turkey. Pumpkin, cherry, and apple pie. Apple sauce(my grandma makes THE best), strawberries, pumpkin seeds, hot rolls/buns, chocolate, candy canes, cherries, pasta, my mom's meatloaf, and corn on the cob:smile:

These are the foods I can't wait to eat. They make each season happy and fun. The world would not be complete without them. So tell me what do you look forward to eating this year?

Hot cocoa definetely.

For Thanksgiving, I love left-over turkey in sandwichs.

For Christmas, I love thumb-print cookies (aka bachelor buttons by grocery stores), chex mix, Mayfield's Egg-Nog, and basically just any kind of holiday cookies!

I love the Winter and Autumn for being able to indulge in my passion for hot apple cider and cocoa, while curled up under a blanket reading a book on the sofa. I could never understand though why apple cider seems to only be sold during the holiday seasons; I could drink it all year long, and it tastes as good chilled as it does hot. But, anyways, more of my holiday season indulgences/comfort foods...

For Christmas; roast goose or duck, Butterscotch Schnapps, egg nog, almond cookies, mince pie and my mum's homemade rum-balls.

And, of course, I can't exclude from the list my father's homemade 4-layer lasagna that he makes only once a year for New Year's night. I dare anyone to try and make a lasagna nearly as delicious as his.

Because that's when apples are ripe. And just try to beat my mom's meatloaf and chili, I love her chili, it's so good. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside like I've just eaten a baby bunny.........wait ...............strike that last part from the record.

Is it just because I live in Southern California now that it seems early to be talking about holiday food?

72 and sunny here, btw.

Oooh, I love hot cider too. I've been begging my mom to get some, and we tried but couldn't find any, but she finally did manage to get some and it is very yummy - and warm. It's sooo cold here now!

Egg Nog! And it's not out yet, not really at least. We bought a can of it last week, but it tasted gross :grouchy: I like it thick, real thick, yum-yum! However; thanks to this thread, now I want hot cider too!

I've only seen it in the context of an eyebrow raise.

I can't wait for fudge. My Mom and I always make several pans of that stuff every December. mmmmm....
