The skinny and the blue!

My correspondence was returned and it appears the main concerns are being addressed as we speak. Here’s the skinny:

Eye focus was always one of the last bits with Palisades figures - and the same goes here. It’s best to leave that final touch for the end. They reportedly will be tweaking the pupils. (Sounds dirty. He he.)

They are also looking into the jaw/lip area. It really is a common mistake in Gonzo toys. They are looking through their puppet source art and the Mega Gonzo sculpt for this. The mouth area also a big part of how the nose-shape comes out and MR knows that. We already know the nose is being addressed and apparently it will be looking good. I don't know if this will be noted in the site photography. :concern:

Lastly, the suit. Well, it's going to be redder than some fans might like, but he has worn that color before. However, it is not as signature a color as the slightly purpler suit we know and love. MR (not unlike what Palisades did with the likeness) deems this a contemporary/classic Gonzo blend. The suit will reflect that sentiment and be left in its current color. I don’t think it looks so red in person, but it’s definitely not that Salmon Pink!

That's the word from the good folks at Master Replicas. They were nice, swift and friendly! Thanks to them for setting us die-hard fans at ease.

Just aim the eyes closer to the nose and I'm in. Whatever. Let's just get this one over with and move on to Fozzie and other characters that are less difficult to reproduce.
Agreed, it may have been a mistake to put a Gonzo into production once it was known that they wouldn't be able to mass produce anything like Terry's prototype ... but obviously they paid for their license and want the big guns. Let's hope they can make some improvements still though and something as close as possible is worked out because they do all look really good together and not having a Gonzo would put a big gap in the group. I am sooo looking forward to Fozzie, much more suitable for the line although giant so costly, lol. He just looks so fantastic, i need him on display here asap!

Mister Superstar - i can hear what you're saying about you preferring something that is less exact and lasting, over something that will last 10 years or so but look much better. However, do you really think any other material is going to give you that guarantee - unless you just put it away in a box there will be an amount of wear anyway. A standard teddy bear kept from when you were a kid even starts to degrade or fall apart after awhile. This is a premium specialist product - i'd rather they were using the correct materials and making this the authentic way even if it costs a little more. If i'm paying 400 dollars for something less exact i'd rather pay 600-800 for something closer to the real deal. I guess Disney won't allow it though because of the brand reputation.

Gonzo has now been added to the Muppets listing on the MR site.Sad news is that he is now $100 dearer at $299.00 plus there are going to be as many Gonzos as there was with Kermit-2,500 so he isnt as limited. And shipping is now between March and May next year.Just hope Fozzie doesnt go up dramatically from when Amy told us all the prices.

That's odd. I just got the e-mail and it says $250.

But since there will be 2500 of them and Kermit has yet to sell out, I will definitely be waiting on this one to see some final photos... and maybe even some fan photos after he ships. It depends how the pictures on the website turn out. Right now they are using that same picture of the Comic-Con prototype that we have already seen.

That's also disappointing about the suit color. I thought they said all along they were going for the classic Muppet Show era on the characters, which would be the more purple tux. I'd almost rather have him in the sweater vest if the color isn't going to be right.

Man, I sure seem to be complaining alot on this one, but in my defense, I never said one negative word about Kermit when other people were tearing him apart. I just want them to get it right.

:stick_out_tongue:

Maybe that is with discount if you are a CS member? The color of Gonzo's suit looks better(darker red) than shown here, but it is the same photo, so they must have photo shopped it.

I am just happy with the fact that they know about some issues with him and they are working on it. The clothing is so minor. I can have someone make me a little purple suit for him. I am happy with the current news about his tweaks.....I AM READY TO PRE-ORDER WITH MY CS DISCOUNT! :concern:

You are right OWE....it does say $250.00 in the news letter then on the website it says $300.00. Even with my discount, it is only $269.10 with free shipping. That's odd.

What price did she say?

I don't get why they can't get a color match for the Gonzo suit - do they dye it themselves or just get a bulk load in from a list of colors?

I would prefer the red suit over the salmon color anyday. I can always have a little suit made for him.

I'll fix their website so that the pictures show up at a sane size when you click to enlarge in exchange for one of terrys prototypes.

2500 Gonzos? Oh dear. With Kermit yet to sell out and a less-than-perfect likeness, I see these being really slow to sell. I just hope that the line will hold up long enough for Fozzie to make it all the way through production.
