Has anyone ever seen Koyaanisqatsi? It was a film made in 1983 that can only be described in words as interpretive art. Anyway, I didn't see the film or become familiar with the music (Philip Glass) until the late 90's, at a time when I wasn't watching SS anymore. I'd purchased the album on a recommendation and became familiar with the score first. Immediately it sounded familiar; particularly the furiously fast and overlapping cyclic parts. When I saw the film, it became more clear what I'd been thinking of. I would swear that both the music and the film's style during those fast sections (filmed at a slower speed to achieve the illusion of sped-up action; in this case mostly including city traffic and clouds going by) were spoofed in Sesame Street sometime in the 80's.

Take a look at the film's trailer, particularly between the time signatures of 1:12 and 1:28 to see what I mean. Please someone tell me they remember a Sesame film like this. This has been on my mind for years.

Just bumping this thread back up.

Anyone remember Sesame having anything like what they saw in that video I linked to?

Scott,

Did it have Maria's voice over it saying "Theres a horse!" and stuff like that, And the clouds would form a running horse ?

You know, I vaguely remember that, too - something was done with the clouds sweeping by and the car lights on the expressway, wasn't it? Wish I could remember more...

Hays' recollection sounds closer to what I remember, but it didn't have any voice overs or horses I don't think. I could be wrong and only remembering part of the film, so if anyone can shed any light, that would be great.

I have a feeling it will take a long, long time, but I *will* track this down some day and make a digital video for download

Been thinking about it a little more...was the concept something about night and day...maybe with some Joe Raposo music - not matching the Glass at all?

No, part of my memory is rooted in the idea that the music was Glass-like because upon my first hearing it, that's what sparked it in the first place. It was later when I saw the film that I further cemented my theory that it had been spoofed in the 80's by Sesame.

There was a film/animation series in about Season 28 where they show clouds rolling by over New York City, and the clouds form Horses, Cats, Camels, and Elephants. There was 1 film for each. And it did have Maria's voice on it, and kids. It used some classical piece of music by, I think it was Mozart.

Was the music fairly moderate with the video sped up at all?

I thought it was quite appropriate.
