Since we are home with the chicken pox, I just noticed that the Berenstain Bears have a show on PBS now. I bet most of you have heard of the books. The episode I saw was pretty good, *but* they are showing it in conjunction with Seven Little Monsters (from the Bookworm Bunch) and we don't like that show.

Still... check it out.

Oooooooooh.......CHILDREN'S PROGRAMMING!!! (Yes, I have a children's educational programing fetish....I know, I'm nuts.) I love Sesame Street, (OF course), Zoom, (just a buncha kids havin fun), pre-Joe Blues Clues, (I'm a Steve fan), B/W the Lions, (anbd I thought I was the ONLY person over 5 who loved this show), Arthur, Litte Bear, (though my fave character is the cat), and Little Bill. Those are, of course, NOW. All-time would include Eureka's Castle, David the Gnome, Fraggle Rock, Today's Special.....And too many more for Manda to count!

Well... first off, let me say that Dragon Tales turns my stomache inside out.... sorry Byron... It's too my little Ponies/ Care Bears for my taste (ironically, when I was like 4 those shows I liked. I had en extensive Care Bear collection... not something I'm proud of. Gave them to my sister) In fact I almost had terrible flashbacks of being in grade school (Kindergarten) and I was flipping out once. (I actually have recurring nightmares I'm back in Grade School or High School)

Anyway, that aside some of my favorites were/and are

Sesame
Fraggles (cartoon, sadly no cable)
Muppet Babies
Zoobalee Zoo (had pleasent memories of that show)

Square One Mathmatics (Electric Company was before my time, but the was the Math equivillant)

Mr. Rogers... I mean, the guy's a god to preschoolers back in the day, and he's still popular. I actually got a Mr. Rogers Adult sized T for CHristmas...

Between the Lions (a pleasant little show, akin to Sesame Street... of course, a lot of Sesame people were behind it)

Bear in the Big Blue House

Berenstain Bears (I am a Huge fan of their books. In fact, I've seen the new version of the show. It's quiter and a little toned down from the 1980's series, and dispite the fact that Ruth Buzi and Brian Cummings should have reprised their roles as Mama and Papa Bear, it's a nice show)

Seven Little Monsters (check it out. It shares a show with the new Berenstain Bears. It's pretty funny. Who's Line is it Anyway's Colin Mocharie voices monster 2, and the Barenaked Ladies perform the theme song. It's quite akin to Muppet Babies, only they are MUCH larger than their mom...)

Arthur (He was my literary hero as a kid. I wish this was around back then. I actually watch this whenever I get the chance.)

Clifford (Same thing with Arthur, Actually I got to meet the authors of these two sereis and I have some books autographed.)

Cyberchase (I occationally see this show. It's a fun little way to teach math. Gilbert Gotfried and Christopher Lloyd voice some of the characters. Fun to watch, if you're curious)

And though it isn't on my favorites list, Sagwa is pretty enjoyable. I had to Baby sit, and this was on. I saw a few other episodes. It's pretty good.

Mathman Mathman Mathman^_^ Yeah, 321 and Square One(and Today's Special and every other cryptic PBS kids show) were around my time so I remember them both. I remember this one 321 episode where one of the kids goes to an arcade, then goes to see how video games are made. I was like 5 or 6 and was blown away, as it was around there I really got into arcade games.

I also loved the Clifford books, but the show just makes me grit my teeth. Emileigh watches it every once in awhile, but it is definately not at the top of my list of PBS shows. And just who are all these new dogs anyway?!

As for Sagwa, well, I *wanted* to like it, but the animation is just bad and the story lines are right behind it. The cat is cute, I'll give it that.

Well... I liked Clifford to a much lesser extent than Arthur. In fact, I have only seen a few episodes. Sagwa tthe same thing.

Anyway, I swear, I don't like the "Sparkles the Dog" segments halfway through the show. They are just.. bleh. Almost like this was made for a brodcast or cable network, and they wanted to fill time with something, since there are no commercials.

I really like the older Berinstain Bears better than the new one, especially seeing how they handled "Berenstain Bears and the Bad Dream" the took far too many liberties with that one.

It was one of my favorites, especially how they made Space Grizzleys a satire of ther old 1980's toys.... you know... Heman, Transformers...

they treated it like it was a cheasy sci fi show in the new series....
