Okay, now many people don't know much about this television special so I will tell you pretty much step by step....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The special begins with Julie in a white background, she is singing the beginning of the Sesame Street Theme Song and then Oscar in this big trash can with leaves surrounding him says, "Follow Me!", actually this special has a laugh track which is especially unusual. So then Julie dances with these large trash can dancers where she enters Sesame Street, we enter a commercial break.

Julie then talks about how great and nice everyone is on Sesame Street and Oscar chats with her a little bit, then she meets Big Bird, over too the side Bert and Ernie try to figure out who this lady is. Then Kermit is talking to the viewer and then Julie comes they sing "It's Not Easy Being Green", Kermit gives her flowers and then Cookie Monster eats the flower....

Kermit: "This is Cookie Monster he eats almost every living thing..."
Julie: "Well, you know Perry Como is coming...."

Then Cookie Monster talks about how he likes Perry Como and we go to a commercial break. We come back where actual there is a stage right in the middle of Sesame Street! He sings a few of his songs, he then talks to Big Bird which leads too a groovy disco type counting musical number with Julie Andrews and some dancers (non-muppet dancers.)

We then go back where Julie and Perry starts to sing "Sing" which leads to many other songs including "Singing In The Rain." There are no muppets in this bit. We go back again where Julie is talking to Biff, Bert, and Ernie, on how her broadway shows would've turned out so much better which turned into a broadway meledy....

There first songs "Doin' What Comes Naturually" is sung by Julie, Bert, Ernie, Biff, Grover, Betty Lou, and The Anything Muppets as cowboys and girls.

We then turn to "I Feel Pretty" which is actually the same as the TMS version except Frazzle instead of Beutifal Day Monster appears opening the door. After that "Shall We Dance" has an intro with a BALD BERT and Julie and Snuffy sing to it. Then, "Guys and Doll's", "Fugue for the Tinhorns" is sung by three mobsters (Bert, Ernie, and Biff) along with three horses. Then a sexy Julie Andrews sings "Hey There Big Spender" too Cookie Monster, sort of like Kermit and Yorick's rendition of "I Grown Accustumed to Your Face." Then to rap it all up, Big Bird and Julie sing "Give My Regards to Old Broadway."

After that we see Biff, Big Bird, Perry, Julie, Cookie Monster, Grover, Kermit, Ernie and Bert sing "Picture a World." Then Biff says "Hey Perry, not half bad, and Julie you have a good set of pipes" or something like that and Bert wants Biff to go and Biff wants to know what he said wrong. Cookie Monster gives Julie a flower which she eats (ew.) Then everyone leaves and Julie sings a song at the end (which I forget) and leaves and the credits roll.

Yes I have this special on tape. It's a very unique special. It's the only time Iv'e ever seen Biff interact with Bert and Ernie. It doesn't seem like Bert likes Biff very much. Also Kermit and Ernie and Bert appear together at the end. And although they don't talk to each other. Kermit sort of makes a refference to something they say. They show a scene with Bert and Ernie in the arbor area talking about Julie Andrews, and in the next scene Kermit is sitting on Susan and Gordon's window and says "those 2 have no idea what theyr'e talking about!" or something like that. I absolutley LOVE that song they all sing at the end called "picture a world" it's a great song and I wish it was available on CD somewhere. This special is definetley worth seeing.

Unusual Special

:smirk: I think that this is one of the most fascinating Sesame Street specials I have ever heard of, even though I have never seen it before in my life. I would really be interested in seeing this. Barry, I think you should probably consider putting v-clips on your website, if you ever get the chance.

It's weird that Biff had such a big part in this special, yet it doesn't seem like Sully appeared in it (I haven't actually seen this special). Did Richard Hunt perform in the special? I have read that Biff and Sully both made their debuts during the same season, so it's not like Sully wasn't around at the time..

Who performed Betty Lou in this special?

Was the singer for I Feel Pretty performed by both Fran Brill and Jim Henson like she was on The Muppet Show?

As far as I know, the only Jerry Nelson characters in this special were Biff, Mr. Snuffleupagus, and Frazzle. I wonder why other Jerry Nelson characters, like The Count, Herry Monster, Herbert Birdsfoot (assuming he was still on the show at the time), Sherlock Hemlock, and The Amazing Mumford weren't there.

the 2ns SS album has both of them singing that song, sometimes you'll hear it on MC radio.

From what I have been told. Biff made his debut in 1973, so he was a brand spanking new charachter at this time. I think it's the only time he interacted with Ernie and Bert, with the exception of his Cameo in Do De Rubber Duck which would come years later. I don't know why Sully didn't appear. I guess they wanted him with Ernie and Bert for some reason.
