Last Friday Night, MuleySuit went down to the Riverkings game and I forgot to mention something that happened with one of the kids:
A little boy comes over and says, "Muley, will you watch the game with me?"
Muley: Sure, for a few minutes, because I have to visit with everybody.
Boy: They have big animals like you here, too.
Muley: Yup, they live here.
Boy: Who's the duck?
Muley: Oh, that's Riverthing. He's my pal.
Boy: Who's the lizard?
Muley: That's my other friend, Sheldon the Turtle.
Boy: Oh. Well, they're nice, but I love you.
And he gave Muley a big ol' hug!
===========================================
Last night was Celebrity Waiter's Night at Bosco's, and Muley played the role of Maitre'D. It was a successful event, and as usual Muley was well accepted. All the local sports teams had a representative there, all the tv and radio stations had folks there as well. Unfortunately for me, I arrived an hour and a half late, and missed several folks, but still was able to hang with folks I already know (weathermen, DJs, band members, etc).

Muley got the usual jack-*** jokes from folks, and gave the usual answers. The best thing of all was when a kid came up to him and just stood there smiling widely, and I let Muley look at the kids' parents and back at the kid and say, "What?" The kid cracked up, to which Muley replied, "Glad I didn't bother writing scripts and funny jokes for tonight, because if everyone is like this it's an easy audience!" And it was. One woman was hollering with laughter just looking at him as he blew her a kiss and flirted.

Some guys dressed as Boll Weavils came in and walked around putting Mardi Gras Beads on people's necks, and one approached Muley and stood there looking at him, and Muley gazed back. The guy says, "What are you?" Muley says, "Scared!"

Another moment, a local Newsman who is at odds with the City Mayor was there serving tables and he turns and looks at Muley who says, "Don't hit me, I"m not a mayor!" (The mayor accused the newsman of touching him, which he didn't and the video footage proves it. Our mayor is a childish prude, a learned idiot, and I did NOT vote for him!)

It was a lot of fun, and can't wait til next year's.

Saturday is the Rangemaster Gunshoot, but I think I'm skipping it. Muley wasn't a big deal there last year so I don't see a need for me to go to that again; but next Thur and Fri is the actual Radiothon at the Hard Rock Cafe, and Muley will appear there on Thur night.

What are those Boll Weavils from anyway? I've seen them in parades and they're just weird. Not in Muley's class at all.

So, tonight Muley is going down to the Hard Rock Cafe as part of the Rock 103 RadioThon for the Ronald McDonald House. It's 9:40 and they have almost $50,000 raised. They'll be doing this through 10 am tomorrow. Visit www.rock103.com to listen live. Some of it is very touching, and some of it's funny. Worth a listen.

Also, we had a 3.9 Earthquake in Memphis this morning right at 8am. I was sitting on my floor playing with my video tapes (organizing them actually) and felt it; I wondered why I didn't hear the train pass my apartment, and then on the news I heard about the earthquake. The center of it was in a city well away from here, in Arkansas, but we still had tremors here. Just proof of the magnitude of the New Madrid Fault on which Memphis is on the edge:

The Radiothon was a blast. Unsure what the total is right now, but Muley was a hit at the Hard Rock Cafe tonight. Band members who were performing on the stage thought it was funny that the Mule was dancing with all these pretty girls. One guy says, "I need one of those talking mules!"

At the end of the show a rapper came up with a little-person sidekick, but I let things get kind of slanderous (?) as the rapper said, "Hey, nice Muppet." Muley looks at his dwarf-rapper-pal and says, "Thanks, your's ain't so bad either!" Everyone laughed but the rapper and his small friend.
