As for Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenowith, as someone mentioned, are amazing broadway performers, but noone really knows who they are, so would they really be a choice? :frown:
Kristin has done some television work; she was Marian Paroo in the TV version of The Music Man (the one w/Matthew Broderick, who would also be a good candidate for a guest appearance on the new Muppet Show), and she has a supporting role in the Bewitched movie this summer.

As for Idina, she's gotten some good exposure as Elphaba in Wicked (she got a Tony for the role). I know she's released at least ONE album of original songs. And she's also going to be in a couple of movies this year...one of them is called "RENT", I believe?

Seriously, what about Phil Collins? I think he'd do good with the Muppets.

Ya know, that's an awesome idea! Assuming that a season contains 24 episodes, here's a prospective guest list for the first two seasons:

SEASON ONE
1: Penn and Teller
2: Phil Collins
3: Billy Joel
4: Tom Hanks
5: David Ogden Stiers
6: Elton John
7: They Might Be Giants
8: Emily Browning
9: Bill Cosby
10: Patricia Arquette
11: Paul Williams
12: Simon and Garfunkel
13: Norah Jones
14: Los Lonely Boys
15: Michael Crawford
16: Keira Knightley
17: Natalie Portman
18: Sting
19: Robin Williams (this is the single most important of the guest stars)
20: Nicole Kidman
21: Rowan Atkinson
22: Jeff Foxworthy
23: Minnie Driver
24: The Finn Brothers

SEASON TWO
1: Emmy Rossum
2: Stephen King
3: Brian Henson (and put him in a sketch with Sal, now that would be great!)
4: Tim Curry
5: Drew Barrymore
6: Beyonce Knowles
7: Brian Wilson
8: Barbara Walters
9: Frank Oz (this may be the only way we get him to return)
10: Michael J. Fox
11: Alexis Bledel
12: Jerry Seinfeld
13: Willie Nelson
14: Dave Barry
15: Joss Stone
16: Peter Boyle
17: Owen Pallett (an electric violinist from Canada, he's amazing)
18: Ringo Starr
19: Steve Martin
20: Phil Chapman (try and say THAT wouldn't go well!)
21: Dakota Fanning
22: Harrison Ford
23: Steven Spielberg
24: George Lucas (with C-3PO and R2D2)

*cracks up at the thought of Rowan Atkinson on TMS* I forsee at least two possible sketches, one involving Mr. Bean and the other with Edmund Blackadder.

Having David Ogden Stiers as a guest would be great. The man is an A-1 talent, even if most people probably only remember him as Winchester from M*A*S*H.

But then again, I don't think we should judge the show on a list of potential guest stars. We should wait to see if this even becomes a reality first, and what the format will be like.

Fair enough. But isn't it cool to dream up lists of prospective guest stars?

I don't consider J-Lo talented enough to call her a modern-day celebrity. Not when there are a thousand better stars. And they don't even have to be well known, either. I don't even know who Ricky Gervais is! LOL!

For example: Ian McDiarmad (sp?) that plays Palpatine in the Star Wars movies. I like him as an actor--not because of Star Wars--but he's just awesome. His voice, his actions. He's in the here and now, and extraordinarily popular, but I don't consider him a good choice for The Muppets.

I do know that Wayne Brady would be good to have on the show...wait, there's already a thread like this, isn't it?
Level of talent has nothing to do with being a "modern day celebrity."

Also, I agree with the Wayne Brady comment. He would be perfect on the show. He has worked on Sesame Street before and I know that he works well with the characters. He just fits right in.

I would like to see stars of all sorts from all eras. Regis Philbin would be fun to see. Then again, so would Catherine Zeta-Jones and Matt Damon. How about Robin Williams. Also, I wouldn't mind them bringing back some classic icons like Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, Bea Arthur, Betty White, Don Rickles. Randy Newman might also be interesting.

Brooke Shields now that she's older would be really cool.
Ewan McGregor would be amazing.

Kristen Chenowith I would think to definitely be considered on the list as she is becoming more popular and making more television/film appearances in the last couple years. Idina Menzel...I'm not so sure about that one.
