I get it now. Dontshoot, the piano player, as in the classic Truffaut film, "Don't Shoot the Piano Player", which starred none other than Charles Aznavour (it's his best-remembered film).

But yes, Jim Henson himself said Dr. Teeth was based off of Dr. John, even though he dresses more like Elton John.

I heard a rumor a while back that Animal was inspierd by Keith Moon of the Who, Dr.Teeth was inspired by Jerry Garcia of the Greatful Dead, Zoot was inspired by Jim Morrison. Is this true if so that the coolest thing ive heard!
I would like to point out I joined here right now to provide solid, almost irrefutable proof that Zoot is indeed based on "Blue" Lou Marini, who played sax for the Blues Brothers band, I believe played with Steely Dan, and whom I saw playing with James Taylor a few years back. Just came to me, weird. Blue Lou is a great sax player, he looks similar to Zoot especially circa late 70s, and his nickname is Blue, while Zoot is....Blue. What do ya say? Proof?
