Before school started this year, my mom signed me up for this new club called Generation Joshua. My mom signed me up for two reasons.
1. She says it'll look good on my record for college.
2. She says I need to be involved in afterschool activities.
Now mind you, I'll admit to these two reasons, BUT I absolutely H-A-T-E this club! It's all about politics, and if there's one thing I don't want to be involved in, is politics! Last night, my mom nominated myself for "Media Represenative" due to my background in media. If I win, then I'll be saddled with all of these calls and e-mails that have no interest to me whatsoever! It's so bad I just want to tear my hair and scream! In fact, I'm pounding the keys as I type this! Thank God this club only meets once a month, BUT these people spam me with e-mail all the time! (No not spam spam, I say "spam" because that's all I ever get e-mails about anymore! I rarely get any e-mails that I enjoy sitting down and reading anymore!) I wish I could tell my mom "I don't want any part of this", BUT, I'm afraid I can't because she's still upset about me "dropping out" (as SHE said) of the science fair last year. I'm already having a tough time in school this year, I have two hours of chemistry, which I'm tanking in, and geometry which isn't all that hot either, NOW I HAVE to be involved in politics?! All of this is making want to shout out words I've never said before! :grouchy: :grouchy: :grouchy:

Wanting to shout out words you've never said before... I know that feeling...

I'm tempted to say you should tell your mom how miserable you are in this club, but I've had to tell my parents things I knew they wouldn't want to hear, and it's not a fun position to be in...

So maybe try this? Say something about how terrible you're doing in chemistry and geometry, and follow it with something along the lines of "If only I had a little more free time so I could study and get my grades up! But I guess I have to take care of the Generation Joshua stuff..." Maybe that'll help. On second thought, maybe that'll give you a one way ticket off of Muppet Central. ("Well if you didn't spend so much time on that web site, maybe you'd have more free time!" I know that feeling, too, my dad has threatened to disconnect my internet more than once.)

So, I guess all I can really do is... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<HUGS!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
And I hope it gets better for you.

I'm homeschooled, so I spend a majority of my day studying! Besides, my mom KNOWS how bad I'm doing in both of those subjects. Oh well, as that idiot coined the phrase: "Nobody said life was fair."

Myy gosh, your mom sounds so much like my mom, that it's not even funny! Seriously!
You could try pointing all the obvious negatives to her, like your total lack of interest in politics, and how you don't need to be political to be successful in life. Also, how you ar flooded with junk e-mail, and if you do this media thing, you will only be bombarded more often.
Or if you don't want to be so forceful about it, perhaps you could start by asking her, why she feels that you need this particular extra-coricular activity, and maybe suggest some alternatives. I'm sorry if I seem like a know-it-all, and remember, these are only suggestions.

Stick in there D'Snowth. Just think that your mom put you in there. My mom never put me into anything. She just left me alone most of my time. To me it's like my life is going backwards. It's like a kid I didn't need anything to keep me occupied. I just would do my own thing then I get older and its like I have nothing to keep me busy. I get bored pretty easy. I started on this comic strip and can't think of any ideas for any of my strips. I ramble on and on and don't make any worth of since. I'm just saying keep in there buddy. Don't just give up yet.

Well. she knows about my e-mails, because as my parent/teacher, she gets more than twice A DAY! She once had a total of 167 new messages in a three-day period. And as I said, she feels I need this because "it'll look good on my college resume". Besides, she say's homeschoolers aren't offered as many choices for after-school clubs. But WHY politics? Jim got off lucky when he was part of a puppetry club. Anyway, I really can't say anything now because last night she wrote my speech I HAVE to give tomorrow night, and plus she told my dad and when he called from his travel last night he said "I sure am proud of you." So now I really can't say anything.

WOW!
When I was in highschool I couldn't even handle 1 hour of chemistry, let alone 2! And geometry was a math level I never even reached. I agree, with all this allready on your daily agenda, politics is the last thing that needs to be added to it. Hopefully your mom will take this to heart and lighten up a bit. But untill then, hang in there! :sympathy:

It could be worse, you know. You could just not have the ability to walk, write, think, speak, see, hear, or even move period! I know 4 year olds with cancer, and met one child who was going home with incurable cancer, all from the Ronald McDonald House.

We've got it good compared to many.

I suggest getting involved with less-fortunate people and it makes you have a whole new outlook on life!

If your Mum's so bent on you having extra curricular activities like that why don't you take the time to find a few that you might well be interested in then say to your Mum "Look, I don't like this club but I appreciate the sentiment behind your sending me there. I found these clubs/activities that i would very much be interested in and I thought you could help me choose which one/s to go for." That way she feel like she's having input and that you're getting a well rounded upbringing, plus adding to your college resume and you get to choose what to do with your time.

Plus Fozzie Bear's right, there's a whole world of hurt out there and being made to go to a politics club isn't really that bad. Plus that fact that, though you might not like it now , believe me, politics will whether you like it or not effect you for the rest of your days. Surely knowing a bit about it isn't that bad an idea.
