Forgive me for not completely understanding. What exactly was it they did wrong? If you'd rather speak by PM that is fine. I am just trying to understand better.

OK Bry...here's what happened:
For starters,he looked better in the hospital than he did in the funeral home.My dad normally had tannish-white skin. The funeral home made him look yellowish gray! .
Also,(one thing I didn't mention to you guys) funeral homes normally provide kneelers to pray on in front of the casket.They didn't bother doing that!! My sister & my younger brother's (then) girlfriend had to go ask for one.
As I mentioned my mother got in touch w/the funeral home & told them how dissatisfied we were with their service. So (since my dad was being cremated) they gave us an urn.I don't know if it was free of charge to make up for what they did or not.

yeah me too. I have some friends who are morticians too, I may be able to understand a bit better or help you. It may not be the funeral home your angry at but the morticians/embomer. Boy they also have an interesting strange job... I could have done that, just couldnt do it.

even being a cosmetologist, I could have done the hair/makeup part. The dead have weird things you have to be careful of that you dont with the living (understandbly so) like did you know that when you like... say comb grandpas combover to the side (like he did for so many years) that if your not careful of what your doing, you could easly press to hard with the comb and it would bruise them where ever you touched them? also, if it was his coloring, it may have been that they didnt have an air brush. Putting on makeup with a sponge is much harder to do for the brusing factor (also it does not blend as well) maybe it was a new girl (like first day on the job or training ya know? I know it does not make it any better, he was your dad you have every right to be mad, but I bet you it was something as innocent like that) there are so many weird little things like that. I even find them disturbing, but they gotta be done.

sorry if I offended anyone by saying that stuff (or grossed you out) but it is true. I dont envy their job.

I for one am not offended. My dad worked in a funeral home for a while. But I remember him saying once that the families give the makeup artist a pic of their loved one when he/she was alive.This way there's at least a bit of a chance of making them look somewhat normal.

Thats all that matters. Your dad would want you to only remember him alive, and not worry about the horrible things that happend right after his death.

Thanks Christy *hugs back* And yeah...I'm going to remember my dad the way he was before he passed away.One word to describe him when he was alive is "incredible" (I'm sure most people would describe their parents that way,though .) His sense of humor was really something.He always made me laugh!
One thing I'll never regret is telling him how much I loved him.Even before his last surgery when he was ready to leave the house,I gave him a big hug & told him I loved him. Even when my dad was unconscious in the hospital,the nurses told us he could still hear us.So before my family & I left after seeing him,I'd let him know I love him.
Oh yeah....my favorite comfort food?Chocolate! But the other night I went out to eat & got a big slice of this chocolate cake called Killer Cake to take home.So I finished it last night.Sinfully delicious!!
