I'm sorry to hear that Kathy. Did they say why they called? Maybe they knew you were upset about their services and were hoping to call at a less emotional time than a year ago to see how they could make things right or ow they could improve their service. Just trying to see the positive in them.

Well...they wanted to know if I could answer a few of their questions. But with the sour feeling I felt after they made my dad's wake so awful,I figured anything I'd say to them would be poison. Besides,they probably thought I was my mother.
Beth (redboobergurl) sorry I didn't quote you,but knowing me I'll break into tears on the phone when talking to them. And I found out tonight that when my mother told them how dissatisfied she was with their services,they gave us an urn.(my dad was cremated)

as to the why the heck they called, I may have an idea. See I am a cosmetologist, and theres this client of my co-workers (shes one of my fav in the shop) shes a funeral home director, and she tells us a lot of stuff that happens there, some very cool stories.

but anyway, usualy funeral homes do a yearly vidual (I know thats not spelled right, but I cant find the right spelling... ) for all the people that had died that year. They invite all the familys back and do a candlelight thing, sometimes there is food. I bet you that is what it was. Your dad might had died right after they had there yearly thing or something.

I bet you thats what it was. Im sorry to hear they did such a horrible job. Its a hard job to do, and I dont envy them what they do. But it still gives them no right to do what they did to you. Im very sorry.

It just hurt so much to see him like that nearly a year ago.If he could have seen himself from Heaven,he'd be so shocked!Not to mention angry! His normally tannish skin had a yellow-gray look! He looked slightly better in the hospital than he did in the funeral home.

yeah me too. I have some friends who are morticians too, I may be able to understand a bit better or help you. It may not be the funeral home your angry at but the morticians/embomer. Boy they also have an interesting strange job... I could have done that, just couldnt do it.

even being a cosmetologist, I could have done the hair/makeup part. The dead have weird things you have to be careful of that you dont with the living (understandbly so) like did you know that when you like... say comb grandpas combover to the side (like he did for so many years) that if your not careful of what your doing, you could easly press to hard with the comb and it would bruise them where ever you touched them? also, if it was his coloring, it may have been that they didnt have an air brush. Putting on makeup with a sponge is much harder to do for the brusing factor (also it does not blend as well) maybe it was a new girl (like first day on the job or training ya know? I know it does not make it any better, he was your dad you have every right to be mad, but I bet you it was something as innocent like that) there are so many weird little things like that. I even find them disturbing, but they gotta be done.

sorry if I offended anyone by saying that stuff (or grossed you out) but it is true. I dont envy their job.

But that does sound like a makeup problem (they put makeup on all dead people, especially if there is going to be a viewing) Dead people do get that look, no blood flow. Ive also heard that a common compalint is that they dont look anything like the person they are suppoed to be at the viewing. (hair, skin color, makeup) Its hard for a makeup artist to match that skin color/hair style (or the way grandma put on her makeup every morning) you will always remember them the way they did that, they unfortunely didnt know him alive and well, so they cant dupicate it so well.
