I decided to mention this in my thread here. It's nothing really to do with the topic but it's very sombre indeed and worth keeping in mind at this time of year. I heard a guest visiting Major preach at Salvation Army on Easter Sunday and this is what he said. While we had all been sleeping last night in a chocolate induced coma, 30 thousand children died of preventable diseases and starvation. They never knew what a chocolate Easter Egg looks like. They never even ever knew what chocolate in general tastes like. 30 thousand died last night and the same number die approximately every night all year long.
It made me realize how much we need to prayerfully as well as financially support our missionaries who go to poor impoverished countries to try to help people in need. :sympathy: It's not just all about spreading the Gospel, though that is very important. People have physical needs and God wants us to alleviate their suffering as best we can. Jesus himself says when we help the poor and suffering he counts it as having been done to Him or if we don't help them He feels like we have let Him suffer in those people we let suffer.
We may not be called to be missionaries ourselves but we must remember to pray for them and to support them as best our budget can afford. I know God is counting on me to do my own part and with His help I shall.

That's terrible, Marty! I know what you mean, it is so important to support those who God has called upon to do his work!

Incidentally I just realized that I had meant to point out that you should read Matthew's Gospel Chapter 25 Verses 31-46 to see these words of Jesus spelt out in the New Testament.

I just want to let you know that I've decided God wants me to stay Catholic for the time being since I am heavily involved with our Parish conference for St.Vincent de Paul as Secretary but I know it's His will for me to keep up my contact with Major Colin for awhile also so I'll be attending both Churches for a long time as I wait for God to reveal His plan for my life.

I have placed an order at Salvation Army for a DVD about the Nativity of Jesus. I'm looking forward to that and I'm eagerly awaiting my move back into the family home in August.
