Muppetites!

Sorry I've been away from here for a while,
what with being REALLY busy over the holiday season and all...

I really love the Muppets - ever since they began and now even moreso...

I could dribble on this topic, but I needed to ask about this:

Do you believe - that in Henson's performing over soooo many years,
and having that constant 'blood flow down from his hand',
to be a contributing factor to his additional illness back in 1990?

Granted it takes strain and endurance for all to perform like that!

ummmmm, now that I think about it....you're right Bear...

Granted Jim's ARM (or arms) would be sore after a hard-day's work!

Seems like he was BORN for it - a true genius!

I don't think that holding up a puppet would have anything to do with what his illness was, plus it's not like he held up his arm for very long at a time anyway. How long do you suppose takes are? He can put his arm down when the cameras are off.

I was just wondering if this EVEN DID get sore for Jim's arm at times....
Has he ever mentioned that in an article or press story somewhere?

I'm sure his arm got sore once in a while. Some of those puppets are heavy.

Consider the job to be like others. Those that work with their hands a lot get carpal tunnel and such. I'm sure those who puppeteer have shoulder issues (I believe I've read that Dave Goelz is beginning to have issues with his shoulder). It's similar in theory to any other exertion job, just a little different way of going about it

Hi there Jimmy Dead Dog. Havn't seen you around MC for ages. Good to see you. And, no, holding an arm up really shouldn't make much difference to circulation. And if it did, it would just mean that his hand ran out of blood and fell off more than anything else.

It's interesting when you watch the 1983 movie "Trading Places"
where Frank played a jail guard going thru Ackroyd's pockets -
- that his arms look waaaaay long as he pulls out stuff...

I like that part in there where he says: "It's an OP-era"....sounds like BERT!

Yeah...unfortunately Frank Oz doesn't do much Muppeteering anymore. He's pretty much retired from it.
