actually its quite a bit simpler than all this. First, you need something capable of playing tapes and possibly an amplifier to make the signal strong enough to input to a computer. you then need a plug from the output source of the tape player or amplifier and then plug into the Line in input on the computer play the tape and record using recording or audio editing software.
