Again, MFS's fault is with the director, and Elmo's... well... Elmo. Movie was basically an excuse to sell more Elmo toys. Feels like it should have been a DTV. But as for marketing I can see that as well... passing the buck, barely acknowledging the movie... maybe one or two trailers somewhere... that's it.

I really don't think a Fraggle Movie will be made, at least under their mismanagement. Though... I'm starting to think the trailer was screwed around with. I've seen a LOT of movies with farts in the trailers that simply weren't there... Megamind had one, and I spent the entire movie bracing for it. NEVER happened, thankfully. So these farts could very well been enhanced for the trailer... the crotch joke, unless it was a deleted scene, is clearly going to be in it.

I honestly have no problem with crotch jokes as long as there is only one in the movie. But it does get old when every movie seems to be doing them

Though fart and burp jokes make me cringe every time I see/hear one

(I hate the word fart. I refuse to use it when I'm talking. That word needs to be burned from the dictionary)

I don't mind a clever fart joke. Say, a superhero who flies by farting... as long as the fart is useful to the plot and pulled off cleverly, I don't mind it. When a fart, or ANYTHING for that matter, is used for a cheap laugh, I object to it. It's like in the old days of animation the cheap laughs came from racism. And I mean, this goes back to when animation was a baby and people were seen pixilated (not the computer term) and drew monkey looking Irishmen. Instead of being clever, just throw in something random and it'll make people laugh uncomfortably.

That said, even Dreamworks put the fart to rest (other than the trailer for Megamind... there WAS no fart in the final product)... even with Shrek 4. Amazing.

I'm actually amazed by how many people find fart jokes funny. Are people really that immature?

I'll agree if used creatively they aren't as bad or cringe-worthy, though I still wouldn't call them funny :smirk:

Poorly done fart jokes are some of the cheapest ways to get a laugh. Same goes for jump scares being the cheapest ways to get a scare.

Anything done clever and well crafted, even the most immature joke done properly can be funny. Farts, boogers, anything childish if done in a clever fashion. Just adding a fart sound for no reason (what the trailer did) is just a cheap laugh for the 5 year olds they want to get in the theaters seats... the kind that have to bring their out of shape, aging fathers who wanted to watch the sexy action flick and pretend they aren't married to their in even worse shape rapidly aging wives. it's scary how I nail that every time. True story. When I saw Speed Racer, this large father of this little kid was whining that he wanted to see Iron Man!

Bump...

Corey's got some more dish on the film

And to address the amount of crass humor in the trailer — yes, this is indicative of the jokes in the film, sorry to say. Not much I can do when I’m not the director. I have it on good authority that Weinsteins were eager to push for more “Shrek humor” and kept tweaking the jokes with punch-up writers ’til the last minute. I’m disappointed by that approach, and it’s my hope that those ruder moments don’t overwhelm what we originally wrote. I say I “hope,” because I haven’t seen the final movie yet. Yeah, that’s weird.
All I can say is, if that's what those schmucks running the scene wanted, I'm starting to be much happier that FR the movie's a pipe dream. Something tells me it would resemble the Smurfs a lot more if they did.

Really? How pathetic is their little studio now? How pathetic? They're screwing up a film that could have potentially been decent to get a couple "edgy" bits in for no reason. People are TIRED of edgy.

Saw it yesterday, and it was pretty good! In fact, I'm kicking myself for NOT seeing the first one. All and all, hearing that this film was futzed with and an unfortunate utterance of a certain overused stolen movie line, I really enjoyed this. I hope to see a Donner cut or at least the deleted bits when this hits DVD!

Sigh... I wish I knew how good this was a year and 3 months ago... I really wish I could have got those BK Kids Meal figures... especially if they had the Wolf and Twitchy!
