"Hey" is for when you great someone, or are trying to get someone's attention.

"Hay" is dry grass you feed to certain animals like horses and bunnies

I normally say "hey" to friends and family. But, when I say "hay", a bunch of horses with bibs and forks rush up to me. :smile:
