I know this topic has been covered off many times in old threads (so you may want to do a search) but in general what you need to know is:

1) They don't hire people under 18

2) To apply you have to submit a demo reel or a tape you make with a camcorder showing your puppeteering skills. If they think you have promise you'll be invited to attend a workshop in New York when they are looking for new puppeteers. Take your time and wait a few years until you are very good since these "auditions" only get held once every few years so there is really no rush. The good news is that they do review every tape they get.

3) Practice, practice, practice. Take puppetry courses - you can find them throughout the US through Puppeteers of America or in Canada through The Ontario Puppetry Association (among other groups). A great guide to the basics of TV puppeteering is Leo Brodie's Puppetry For The Camera. You can also see his related article Setting Up A Monitor to help get you started.

If you really want to become a professional puppeteer it's a good idea to learn as much as you can about all kinds of puppetry. Most of the professional puppeteers in the world do not work for Henson, and even those that do aren't employees - they just come in when they're needed. Most of the Henson puppeteers also work on other shows as well.

Just make sure you send them the right tape... :smirk:

You're sick. :embarrassed:
I'm pretty good at puppeteering. BUT NO CHURCES.
Muppet Short film idea:
Boppity plays the piano singing why can't we
be friends. Another puppet comes up behind
him with boxing gloves. Boppity punches him out.
He comes up with a gun. Boppity counters. He
comes up with a knife. Boppity hits him while singing.
Whatnot puppet gets stabbed with knife. (Not
disguisting, just two ends sticking out him.)He
once again comes up. This time with a blender.
Boppity yet again counters. A mouse pops out
the piano and dances around.Smahes him in
piano. A minute later this happens again. Whatnot
puppet comes in with Gorgon Heap. Still singing,
Boppity bends over and shoots both. Gorgon gets angry
and eats whatnot. Then Boppity gets eaten. Gorgon
sits down and finishes the song with royal band
accompaniment(so it's spelled wrong) and little mouse.
A beaten Boppity and Whatnot hobble in and sing.
At the grand finale Eekork comes in yells "bye-bye"
in a mischeivious shrill voice and blows up the stage.
They all yell "WE SURRENDER" waving white flags.

Okay so I got the end from the Muppet Show.
And no matter how much I like the Simpsons, I hate the
gore of Itchy and Scratcy. ( I change the channel every time it shows.)I do more of an 'exagerrated TMS'.

Okay I'll do a song I'll make called "Fearless" sung by Frazzle J. Wormgut. He's afraid of everything uncluding air. Or
I can do a jazz song by ultimate cool cat Zoocus Jack( he's a
Frackle but he's completley original).
