Last year I handed out treats and tried to look like Harry Potter, unfortunately the company that made the costume didn't make the robe big enough, I still have the glasses and the wand however, the scar was a removable tatoo.

Ok, Halloween is only about 2 months away, what are you going to be? (for some of you, you may think this is a bit early, but for those of us who sew our own costumes, the earlier the better. Its cheeper that way too)

Last year I was the Ketchup Queen. I took a bunch of McD's ketchup packets and carefully sewed them on to my red dress. I had earings, bracelet, ancklet, Tiara, and a ring all made out of the packets. I had my ruby slippers on, red lipstick, red fake eyelashes, and a staff. I won my beauty schools costume contest! :excited: I unfortunetly dnot have any pictures... I got this idea form "janice and mokie's man" (thanks Byron again!) he was the ketchup king the year before. You guys can have this idea if you want, its going to be unique everytime its done.

What were you guys last year? Im exctied because Im taking Stage makeup/prostetics and costume construction in college, so it will be really helpful! (I also know how to use and get Ben Nye and such make-up now!)
Oh man, I hate Ben Nye makeup! Actually its not all that bad. You see, I use it for when I am in shows and its just so oily. Makes me break out. It works as a fine stage makeup though.

Eh, every one has their preference when it come to actors and their stage makeup, there are a lot of brands. Everyone reacts different to every kind. Ben Nye is better than the stuff they try to sell you in the temporary Halloween shops.

Well, looks like you would only really need a bomber jacket (like the ones pilots wear, kinda pricey though to find, even 2nd hand, but I bet you could make a cheeper one) and a cool hat

If you want to go farther and do makeup, thats where it may get difficult. I might be able to design one for you on paper in my class.

This is all very strange to me. See, here in Ol' Blighty the tradition is to dress up as some thing scary. A ghost, witch, devil, scary creature that sort of thing. Ties in more accurately with the whole premise of All Hallows' Eve the last night of the year which Evil things can go a-roaming before they are banished by the dawning of All Hallows' (or Saints') Day.

By happy coincidence this occurs at the same point in the year which is known to Pagan's as Samain, their version of new year when all the evils of the world go a-wandering before being banished for the winter by huge fires (which also serve to ensure the sun returns after winter is done).

Anyway, I was a witches' cat one year. My Mum sewed the costume out of faux fur but I wouldn't come in to get measured up for the head so she used my brother who, at the time, had a much bigger head than me. I walked around for the whole evening unable to see.

eh, what can I say? over here in America its gotten commercilized, we do dress up scary, but some mothers dont like that and only want there kids dressed up as something nice. OR for the older ones, its just a chance to go all out on a costume.
