It wasn't just Gobo. If you'll notice, the other fraggles (except for Wembley I think) underwent "evolution" too---just not as drastic as Gobo.
I think Wembley did too, between eps. 12 & 13. I think they moved his eyes closer together (or his pupils at least) and did something with his hair.

They all changed, they faces filled out ad they sempt to get more hair. Reds face was very flat at first. I hated the old Ma, she was so Ugly, the new Ma, gives her a more motherly look. Gobo looks like a leader now, what at first he looked like a little kid, who was afraid to go into outer space to just get a post card. They all to me have gotten better. I love all of them in every episode, but im glad they did the change. Off this subjust, just out of my own wonderment, does anybody know how well Season one is selling? I want season 2!!! Gobo's hair was also all over when he was younger and his hair is more of a ceaser cut up and forward! :smirk:

I liked the original Gobo and Ma Gorg better than the rebuilt versions.

It is weird that even thoguh their looks changed, the opening and closing stayed the same. I'm sure that people who didn't see the show untill after their appearances had changed would have been confused.

It's interesting that somebody mentioned pilots sometimes having more cast members. I have read that the pilot for Fraggle Rock, Thirty Minute Work Week, had two extra background performers who had to be laid off after it was filmed.

Does anybody know why Myra Fried quit?

I definitely preferred the original Gobo look to the one he ended up with. I always figured they changed his appearance to show that he matured or whatever (a move which I found unnecessary), but still, his first appearance was much more fun and, in my opinion, more Muppety. I never liked his eyes with lids, either.

I would like to say, I like both Gobos. Here is my theory of what happened to his look when the show progress. When the show started, he was young with really excitable eyes, and had wild hair that swayed back and forth when he was running through the caves in the opening. When he got older, he became more mellow, gaining eyelids, cut his wild locks for a more responsible explorer look, and ditched the jacket for a cool vest with pockets so he can carry the postcards his uncle Matt sends him. It's like a kid going through changes.
