Sorry Phillip I have not seen it but for everyone who has seen it where does it take place? does it just continue the original show?

It does not continue the original show. It is a reboot set in a different continuity. Thus Uncle Traveling Matt goes into Outer Space for the first time, the Gorgs are still trying to thump the Fraggles, and there's a different Doc with no mention of the original one.
