For the record, I was only going to have them go do the show next, but some of the comments on here got me to thinking that maybe I'll put something a bit more of a twist, but I'm not very twisty so I gave it a tiny oomph.
Gee that didn't even make sense to me. Anyway next chapter....
~*~CHAPTER7~*~
"It’s nice of you to help officer, but we have a show to do."
Piggy watched her love argue with the police officer, her back leaned against a wall of the theater that wasn’t incinerated. It was amazing how many fires happened at the theater and the boarding house. But with folks like Gonzo and Crazy Harry running around, how could it be avoided? This time the right wing was where sparks flew.
"You cannot do a show in there," the officer pointed out.
"We could just use the part that wasn’t hit by the fire," Kermit argued.
"But the fire just happened today. It’s unsafe!"
"The Muppet Theater is always unsafe!"
Piggy giggled to herself. With as many fires as happen, Kermit always got just as worked up about it. Everyone else walked around totally unfazed. Some chatted; a few lingered on the bus. Others practiced their skits, for they had come to know that the show must go on. The show
always goes on.
"Okay everybody," Kermit addressed the crowd of muppets, TV crew, and audience members that had gathered around, "We’re doing the show in the park this week. Umm… any show requiring electricity, I guess, just put off till next week."
"Well there goes our number," Dr. Teeth commented.
"Yeah man, without out electric, were just like… mayhem," Zoot said.
"MAYHEM! MAYHEM!" agreed Animal.
Bunsen looked down at his guitar with a sigh, "I guess we won’t be needing this." The band curiously looked at him. "It’s an automatic guitar," he explained, "it hears the song the rest of the band is playing and plays the tune without any strumming of the stings or whatnot. We were going to use it for Denise because…" Piggy glared at him from a distance. He gulped, "Well we just were."
Floyd picked up the guitar and looked it over, "Hey you never know, maybe we could use this for Janice."
"What about me?" Janice asked, walking up to them.
Floyd jumped a bit, but quickly reacquired his usual ever-cool demeanor, "Nothin Baby. We were just wondering what it was like for you, you know, being with guys all the time. In the band, even back at the house. What about girl stuff?" He slipped his hands around her waist and she placed her arms on his shoulders.
"Oh," she said, "There’s enough girls around here to go shopping or have girl talk."
"Well with the pig, the chicken, and the cow it’s more like a barnyard."
She laughed a little, "Besides it rully cuts down on the competition."
Floyd smiled, "Yeah, I guess with all the guys around here I’m the one who ought to be worried about competition."
"Fer sure you ought to be," she said. He pulled back and looked at her. "Kidding," she giggled.
He smirked a bit, "Aren’t you supposed to be at a doctors appointment?"
"You know Kermit," she sighed, "He called and said it was an emergency." The two of them began walking hand in hand onto the bus. "Oh," she commented while they were walking, " I heard the whole comment about the guitar."
