Chapter Twenty
Early Summer - 2006
Fozzie stood on the edge of the porch and smiled. He wondered if the Fraggles were going to still be using the hole they had found before. He just smiled again, and walked inside the house slowly. His friends were hanging around the porch and the old red truck, wondering if he was alright.
"Come on guys. Let's get this place cleaned up." Fozzie said softly to them.
"Why would you want to get it cleaned up, Fozzie? You know it's nearly an hour drive to just get out here." Scooter replied, frowning softly.
"Let's just help him, hun." Sara replied, as she stepped out from the car. She had a box of tools in her hands, ready to help repair the old house.
"You knew about this?" Kermit said, his eyes getting a bit wider, if that were possible.
"Yes, Fozzie told me he wanted to fix up the house." Sara paused for a moment, and frowned. "Didn't he tell you guys too?"
"No, he didn't." The frog smiled, and picked up his old white hat, that was in the glove compartment of the truck. "But we'll pitch in all the same, right guys?"
"Yeah!" Everyone yelled out, as they rushed out in front of Fozzie, ready to fix up the house completely. Fozzie just stood to the side and let them pass him.
The bear stood with his arms crossed, leaning against the column of the porch's railing. Sara walked over and patted his shoulder.
"When's the burial, Foz?" Sara asked softly.
"It...it's already happened." He said, looking away towards the expanse of backyard.
"When?"
"I don't know when...but...it was kinda strange. I never..." He paused for a moment, and smiled a soft, strange smile. "Mokey, she's a fraggle..remember? She told me that Pa Gorg helped the Fraggles bury Dad in our backyard..."
Sara backed up for a second, and looked out into the backyard, with a frown on her face. She looked back at Fozzie who was watching over the backyard himself. The two of them start walking out towards the backyard, and they stop when they get towards the gravesite. There are two graves, side by side. A simple, engraved stone laid on top of each of them. They were underneath a large, expansive oak tree. The branches seemed to go on forever, as they both stood underneath the tree.
"I never saw them burying them. I thought for a moment, perhaps....Mokey told me that, to make me realize they did care for us, although....although I'd never met Pa Gorg, or Junior...or even his Ma." Fozzie said softly, kneeling down in front of the graves.
"Maybe...somehow they did do this. We've known that the Gorgs are where they are, and we're where we are." Sara replied.
"They did do this. I called around, and...no one else buried him." Fozzie frowned, then smiled. "Either way, they're together now."
"But...what about you, Fozzie?" Sara asked, as she sat down beside him.
"I'm not a little cub anymore. I...I'm really....gonna miss 'em. But they're okay now." He stood up, and started towards the house, smiling.
A few of the muppets were sitting out on the backporch, most of them just watching the sunset over the mountains. It was simply beautiful. Words couldn't describe how the mood was over them all.
A smaller girl muppet leapt off of the porch and went running across the tall, cool grass. She was barefoot, and wearing a pretty light blue sundress.
"Fozy! Fozy!!" She was yelling, as she went running towards the sweet bear. Fozzie knelt down and scooped her up into his arms.
"Hey there Renee. You enjoying the house?" He asked gently, smiling.
"Yeah...it's a BIG house!!" She yelled happily.
"Well...it's everyone's house." He stated. "Kermit?"
"Yeah Fozzie??" He asked, perking his head up a bit.
"Let's move this old house to the city. This'll be the new house for all of us. I'm tired of us living in that old run-down house." He said with a confident grin on his face.
"What about your parents??" He asked again, with worry lining his brow. "The house will be gone..."
"They'll stay where they are now. I'm going to turn this land into a place where we can shoot movies, and stuff." He turned to face the sunset over the mountains, and he smiled gently. "Plus...I don't think they'd want to give up this great view either..."
