Can anybody give me a detailed description of this skit? I know that it was included on the video I'm Glad I'm Me, if you need to know which skit it is.

If this is the same skit that's on Play With Me Sesame, then I think I can help you. This skit is around the early 1970's (Ernie and Bert's appartment isn't quite the same, and Bert still has a droopy nose). Anyway, Ernie is standing there, sniffling, and wiping is eyes and nose with a cleanex, when Bert walkes in.

BERT: Hey Ernie? Hey Ernie?
ERNIE: (Sniffly) What is it Bert?
BERT: Hey Ern, what's the matter.
ERNIE: (Sniffly) Oh nothing, Bert, I just feel terrible.
BERT: Oh? Why do you feel terrible?
ERNIE: Oh, cause there's nothing special about me Bert, I'm just "Plain-Ordinary Ernie", or something, I don't know.
BERT: Ernie, that is not true you're special.
ERNIE: What's special about me Bert?
BERT: Oh well, take your nose for example, feel your nose. That's a special nose, that's an "Ernie Nose".
ERNIE: Well, I've never seen a nose like this on anyone else Bert.
BERT: No, now run your fingers through you hair, yeah that's special, nobody else has that kind of hair. Now, feel your ears. Now those are special ears.
ERNIE: Are they Bert?
BERT: Those are special "Ernie Ears". See, you're a special person Ernie.
ERNIE: Gee, thanks alot Bert, you've made me feel alot better!
BERT: Well it's all true, Ernie. (Exits).
ERNIE: Gee...(Looks to the camera) Hey you! Why are you looking like that? You know you're a special person too! Take your nose for example, feel your nose! Yeah, that's a very special nose you're feeling there! Now, take your fingers and run them through your hair, like that. Yeah! That's a very special head of hair you've got there. Now take your fingers and wiggle them. That's a very special finger-wiggling you're doing there. So smile, you're a special person! (Feels nose again) Like me! (Giggles).

I vaguely remember this one. This was probably one of those rare B&E sketches where Bert wasn't falling victim to a prank.

I recently saw this sketch on the "I'm Glad I'm Me" video. This was definitely an "aww" moment  (really need a Bean Bunny smilie for that one!) Hey, it made me feel good. So remember, Bert and Ernie are special and so are you!

Probably the reason is because Lou Berger, head writer says that one of the main givens on the show is that the characters address the audience.

I don't see what is so weird about it. They talk to us (the audience) all the time.

at the beginning of the video Learning about numbers, there are clips of the "guests" who get announced. The clips of Ernie and grover are from segments not on that video. the grover clips is from "Over, Under, Around, and Through", which was included on another video from that year, "play-Along Games and Songs", but I don't know what the ernie clip is from. Considering that I'm Glad I'm me is the only sesame street video from 1986 that I haven't seen, was this clip from that skit?

One silly thing I did for a while whenever this would come on was I'd deliberately make a pouting face when Ernie asked, "Hey why are you looking like that?" But even sillier was my brother when Kermit during the Sesame Street News Flash "rumplestiltskin" sketch said, "If anyone has any information on what his name is please call Sesame Street 555". My brother ran to the phone and dialed 555.
