And you just know that Sheldumb Snearvens has some sort of porno on his web browser while mentioning that. But again, 16 and 17 is NOT the same as 3. It's not like he was using Elmo to get little kids to take their pants off. The allegations are bad, but there's WORSE than that happening every day with no punishment or comeuppance of any kind.
Seriously? This is incredibly stupid. No, it's not the same as 3, but they are still minors. Once you say that the allegations are bad, your argument goes out the window. Do you realize that the "She said she was 18 line" is common amongst predators? It's really stomach churning to read it here as though it's a valid argument to make. I understand that you are mad at the situation, but this is nonsense. It's proven fact that even at age 18, people are still developing mentally. Do teens have sex, yep. But it's still illegal if they do it with an adult, and it's undeniably eyebrow raising if that adult is 30 years their senior. Regardless of the outcome, it's pretty clear that Kevin made decisions that cost him his life's work.

Just like the Jerry Sandusky scandal!!! I hope to God that there won't be like five other people following the first accuser's lead and "coming out" against Kevin.
That's the way these sex scandals work half the time, remember Tiger Woods? Herman Cain? Once one or two accusers crawl out of the woodwork, suddenly, dozens of others come out in droves.
To paraphrase Frank Burns of MASH, this whole thing just tightens my colon.
Like Frank should talk in a situation like this. :stick_out_tongue:

I take back all the things I used to say about Elmo...it just came out of frustration of the character becoming the "face" of Sesame Street and in my mind downgrading the show. Having seen Being Elmo changed my opinion. Even for those that wanted to see Elmo gone, no one wanted it like this. This is just terrible.

Now someone is accusing him of this stuff at the age of 15? Who the heck was using chatrooms in freaking 1993? Was he using a cell phone too? What's next, every month the accusers will become younger...it's just ridiculous.

The traffic on the website is again, crazy. Just like last weeks story I never seen so many people here at one time.

Online now: 591 (members: 58, guests: 533)

533 guests at one time? Who are all these people?
It doesn't matter who they are, they could be your average Joes. What matters is that they are just as affected and saddened by the news as us hardcore Muppet fans. It just hit me that Kevin will probably never pick up that puppet again. He might not even step into the SS studio again.

So many emotions...I can't even...must watch...

It's not that. You kinda misunderstood my post. Whatever...it doesn't matter.

I'm really saddened about this. This is the worst day I had in recent weeks. Almost since Jerry's passing. We won't hear those voices again. :frown:

The idea that people here seem to think that because a 15 or 16 year old chose to go on a gay chat line is makes the possibility that he was talking to them okay is ludicrous.
No one's saying it's okay. We're just saying why the heck are there minors on a sex chat line? In your words, they "chose to go on a gay chat line." Where's the punishment on their end looking for trouble? Why do they even have one that less than 18 year olds can access?

If you go out in the woods wearing a suit of meat to attract bears and they eat you, you're not a victim. If you fall for a get rich quick scheme that you lose all your money to, it's still your fault for being dumb enough to fall for it.

I'm not saying it's right, but every party is at fault here. The "victims" should take just as much responsibility.

And, honestly, it's like like Kevin Clash is really helping the stereotype by befriending minors and having sex with them soon after they reach majority. He's admitted to that, at least. That's creepy even if it isn't illegal.
Yet, if it was a woman doing that with a boy, it would be a high comedy straight out of a movie. Sex is something that makes people do stupid things. But you need someone else to do stupid things with, or else it's something I can't say here.

OH NO!!
Sorry if I'm late. I thought Kevin Clash would be coming back.
This is one of the saddest years in Muppet history. :frown::sympathy::cry:
*sniff* I'll miss Kevin Clash and his performance as Elmo.

I am not familiar with the Herman Cain story, but I was in high school when the Tiger scandal blew up. So yes, I see your point. When they see one person taking action, they become followers and try to get the money they think they deserve (or in some cases, the money they DO deserve). I don't think it's about tarnishing Kevin's reputation as much as it is about themselves getting millions of dollars for winning a lawsuit. I'm part of the Me generation, but this crap sickens me.:grr:

Sorry if I misunderstood, muppetfan123. Like all of us here, my brain is still swirling with thoughts about this incident...

This new accuser is obviously full of it. He just realized how much damage it caused? He was on a gay chatroom in 1993? He wants 5 million for his emotional damage, which he wasn't even aware of until last week?

Screw these people. I can't comment on the first guy, but I can say, these other people crawling out of the darkness are just scabs in search of cash.
