I think so... but you never know, right?
I saw him this weekend at a Puppet School workshop in Chicago.
He's tired and sometimes feels a little out of it, but he's overwhelmed and so encouraged by the support he's received. He can't believe it. He thought maybe somewhere between $500 and $2000 would be what people might give.
He's so generous with his time still, cause he didn't want to disappoint those who'd signed up for the Chicago workshop. Even though he needs to focus on his health and such right now, he keeps thinking of others and how he can be a part of the legacy of what he learned from being a Muppeteer. He just loves teaching.

Michael Earl is an amazing guy. He was my teacher at Puppet School in NYC that I took this past spring. Very talented, patient and has really interesting stories about his work with the Muppets, and puppeteering in general. I was very saddened to hear about his recent diagnosis but am happy to see there's so many out there helping him out. Having no health insurance is a nightmare when you have serious health issues, so I hope we can all get him through this.

We have some exciting news, Muppeteer Peter Linz has joined the effort to help fellow puppeteer and former Muppeteer Michael Earl in his fight against colon cancer. Peter has graciously donated a signed Walter doll and a phone call from Peter and Walter! All of this will be auctioned as part of Swazzle's Workshop sale to benefit Michael Earl's cancer fund happening at Swazzle, 4525 San Fernando Rd. Unit F, Glendale CA this Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Other special auction items include a handmade Swazzle puppet. Plus Miss Yvonne from Pee-wee's Playhouse will make a special appearance and sign autographs and pose for photos in her classic Christmas dress.

This is your chance to stock up on puppet building materials for a good cause - we'll be selling fur, feathers, puppet building materials, puppet eyes, and more! We'll also be raffling off some old original Antron (Muppet) Fleece - the good stuff!

If you are unable to attend the sale but still want to get in on the action, we'll be taking bids over the phone for our two big auction items. Please call 866-792-9953 on Saturday between 10:00 am and 3:45 pm (pacific time) to place a bid.

Michael Earl is a 30-year veteran of film and television. His puppeteering credits include Sesame Street, The Muppet Movie, The Muppets Take Manhattan and Team America World Police. He has trained many of today's working television puppeteers, including Swazzle co-founders Sean and Patrick Johnson. Michael also founded Puppet School, where he is training the next generation of puppeteers and puppet builders.

Michael was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and is without health insurance. You can read about his fight here: http://michaelearl.blog.com

Michael Earl's largest roles were in Sesame Street, where he was a primary performer for a few years. He is actually the one who originated the role of Forgetful Jones, and also was the voice of Snuffy for a time. Off Sesame Street, he did lots of background stuff. You can read more about him here:
