I don't see why people hate it. It seems harmless. I mean, the guy really annoying and stupid but I don't see why so many people dislike it. To me,the commercial doesn't seem that different from most other commercials
I find it pretty tame and not too special. It's funnier than most other credit report commercials get. Especially the Experian ones that...well...I bet its telling that the commercials got removed. They're terrible non-jokes. This one at least attempts humor.

I'm convinced that Progressive actually loves to troll people, because they've done another one of those awful commercials - it's not on their YT channel at the moment, so I can't link it - where everybody around one certain person slowly keep transforming into Flo clones.

I've seen that one! I found it funny though, like all the other Progressive commercials.

Oh yeah. I found it a couple times in the middle of the day, and the obvious place to find them (old rerun based digital channels). I'm not surprised at all. Never saw The Tax Admiral outside of Youtube, though.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that there's got to be at least one person on this thread that's seen Better Call Saul. If anyone followed the current season and is up to date, you'll know what I mean. But I just can't take those cheap "non-attorney spokesman" commercials seriously anymore. That said if you didn't catch the show or aren't caught up with the past 3 episodes...

Jimmy (Saul) suggests having the law firm commission a commercial about the Sandpiper Nursing Home case, and is shown an "abstract" ad with mainly text and a voice over (like the ones you'd actually see on television). Feeling this isn't a fit, Jimmy makes a live action commercial and sends it out to test market going behind the back of the head of the firm. Gets him and someone else in a lot of trouble. Episodes later, Jimmy's flipping through the channels late at night and comes across the approved ad, which is the same text and voice abstract he was shown at the beginning. He proceeds to make a face at it and flips through the channels some more.

I really hate their new ads with Jaimie in them. As if we needed someone a hundred times more annoying than Flow could ever be. The one where he's the "hype man" really... that's Jar Jar Binksian levels of obnoxious.

I've seen that show and the episode you're talking about, and I loved how dead-on they were with that commercial, right down to the old lady's lines being delivered in a melodramatic fashion.

I especially loved how when they were showing him the commercial as a guideline, that guy seemed very proud of how the swirls were timed.

Funny thing about that. A couple days ago, I can't remember what I was watching, but they had a series of "non-attorney spokesman" commercials with the same blonde woman announcing them. Different ones for different cases, like they booked her for a few hours and she hammered out several of them.

I really don't want to do this, but there are some ads that got under my skin recently, and mainly due to thinking of one in another thread. Some of this hits personal experience territory, so...

Anyone see those ABC Mouse commercials? The ones that have these inspirational testimonials by parents whose kids improved after using the pricey app? Well, in my experience it's best not to think too far into them because the stories go from inspirational to..ugh... these people are varying levels of horrible.

Three of them are essentially the suburban middle upper middle class mother types who basically want the bestest best best best for their kids to be far advanced than all the others because it reflects good on them. The same stuff. Wondering why little kids don't already know how to do fourth grade levels of math and reading because they're kids who would rather be kids. Those kinds of parents annoy me because you know they're the ones who have mommy blogs about how eeeeeevil any kind of junk food is even though their kids are well trained not to like them, but they want to ruin it for everybody.

Then there are two specific cases that drove me wild.

One is this guy talking about how he came from a neighborhood where it was "more important to be tough than to be smart," and wants the best for his daughter. On the surface that sounds sweet and all, but if you overthink like I do, that means the guy was a complete butthole as a kid and now that he has a daughter, sure there's a nice redemption story in there, but he comes off as the weaselly little wise guy puke that harassed everyone because he was friends with the biggest kid on the playground so you couldn't actually do anything about him or his friend would beat you. Yeah. I have no freaking sympathies for you if you were a bully as a kid and then said "HEY! I have to take care of a small life now and just now realize that treating kids like crap is bad." Bet he'd go nuts if some punk kid did what he did to other kids to his daughter. Because of course that's how it works. And now you know the kind of person that made my tweenage years a living Hades.

Then there's this woman who, I really feel bad about this, but she comes off as the cheerleader girlfriend of the nastiest jock in school grown up with kids. And to give you an idea, if you like Danny Phantom or have at least seen it, you know that girl that Danny has a crush on that it's not mutual and Sam really hates. The one that acts all phoney sweet to anyone who isn't an outcast or nerd? Yeah. That's what she comes off as to me.

Yep, Progressive is definitely trolling us.

I'd say this is only slightly more clever than Taylor Swift trying to diss her haters in her wigger song.
