As we all know a lot of Classic Sesame Street charachters have been written out of the show over the years. A lot of them were simply there one season, and when the next season began they were gone (ie: Dr. Nobel Price) But there was however a few occasions were a charachter was a regular on the show, then suddently had somewhat of a minor role before they were officially written out of the show. Here are a few I can think of
Ruby Monster: Was a very major part of the show during the 20th and 21st Seasons, she was only used a handful of times during seasons 22 and 23, and finally was gone permantly at the start of the 24th Season.
Forgetful Jone's Horse Buster: continued to be seen on the show by himself, even after his owner Forgetful was no longer on the show (due to Richard hunts unfortunate passing in 1992) he was seen every once in a while from 1992-1994. But by the time the 1994-1995 Season began, he was gone.
Sherlock Hemlock: Seemed to be a pretty major charachter back in the 70's. Once the 80's came around he wasn't around very much. You would see him pop up on the street, mabye once every few years. He continued to be shown very occasionally like this until the mid 90's, when he was finally done away with for good. With the notable exception of The Mysterious Theatre skits, that reran into the late 90's.
Any others?
