Best TV show openings?

and let's not forget the First opening to Muppet Babies... say what you will about Japanese outsourced animation... they do one shell of a job with the opening titles animation. Check out that pull out on "I got my Computer" "I Flip through the air." Too bad the rest of the series didn't look like that.

Agreed. But then again, this show was geared towards Western audiences (because The Muppets were created mainly in North America), whereas the anime that's commandeered animation since then is largely geared towards the Japanese despite airing in the West. Not to knock anime or anything, but when it is the only good source of quality animation out there in recent memory, it does irritate one just a bit.

Now then, shows that have the WORST openings include Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, Two and a Half Men, etc, because they have no openings at all;

Actually, Everybody Loves Raymond and Tow And A Half Men actually do have opening themes and Raymond has quite a few different ones. I think up till season seven had opening themes.

One of my favorite is when the parents are coming over across the street and they are racing to the door to lock it before they get there. Just Epic! I also love any Theme from The Drew Carey Show! Love the First Denise The Menace animated theme song! Love the Whole Comic Book Theme and a big Mob of kind barging toward Mr. Wilson all at the same time, LOL!

Not quite. There hasn't been a "domination" of anime since 2006. Every single source is closing down... and other than 4Kid's 2 little recent attempts (Dino King and Yugioh 5D) there really isn't that much. of course, animation is suffering all over the map anyway..

Here's another example of a Great Japanese animated opening sequence TMNT

compare to the CBS TMNT Opening... it doesn't really have any of the fancy pull outs and stunning visuals...

Of course, the worst would be TMNT final season opening Not so much for the music, but the fact the animation is reused clips of the show randomly interspersed with clips of the movie.

If there's one kind of opening I can't stand, it's complete reused footage. Disney at least had some new footage animated and mixed with show clips...

I seem to be having YouTube issues right now, but two cartoon openings that are fantastic animation- and story-wise imho are Rugrats and The Powerpuff Girls.

Indeed. Even when it reused footage (ex: Robin Hood), it did so using all new characters and such, making it appear new.

Before I get hugely off topic, I think Japan did some of the best work... most Korean stuff looks the same, and very dull... whoever Warner Bros used lately... ooo... yuck! Plus, the ones that had full openings had their wonderful practice of animating the opening a million times better than the actual series....

But speaking of anime.. Lupin III- this is the special version that has LYRICS... The French Version seems to give it nice little 1920's ragtime twist...

and the classic series Graveyard Kitarou and the 1980's remake that was clearly inspired by Michael JJackson's Thriller...

Loved all those you talked about. It's the Drew Carey show that i really enjoyed the openings just because it was different every almost every season.

When I like theme songs I like the songs and video together period . Some of my favorites:

CRO (the theme song was one of my favorite parts)
Life Goes On (it was like a mini movie in itself)
FOX's Peter Pan and the Pirates (No words, but the music said it all)
JEM (Flashy and dramatic, just like the doll)
CBS Storybreak (I never missed an episode)
