Don't expect the next part for a long while, this is just a sampler. I'll put it in a separrte threaad when done, thoughjust so more people can see.

Ernie held one end of his stethoscope in his hands while thinking. He was so glad to be working at the clinic - even as a simple medical aassistant.

His good friend Bert had already said he planned to come down to see him sometime when he had some time to himself. Now that he did, it looked like Bert was coming, just as promised. But, who was that with him?

It waas a lady who looked just like Bert except she had a striped dress that was like Bert's striped shirt, and she had a tuft of white hair instead of black. She had lipstick around her lips, and her eyebrows were wavy.

"Hey, Bert, who's this?"

"Oh, oh, Ernie, I'm so glad you're here. Listen, this is my aunt's sister's mother-in-law's cousin, and she needs help."

"Why, sure, Bert, let me check." He listens to her heart on the stethoscope. "Her heart seems fine."

"It's not her heart, Ernie - she swallowed a fly. And, perhaps she'll die."

"An old lady who swallowed a fly - well, Bert, that's not a big problem, lots of people accidentally swallowed insects."

"Yes, but you see..." He helped the lady into a wheelchair, and said, "We'll be right with you, Bernice."

"Bernice. Isn't that your pigeon's name?"

"Yes, it is, Ernie. I named her after my aunt's cousin's mother-in-law's sister. Anyway, since she swallowed the fly, she's been swallowing other creatures, too." As Bert talks, a stray cat walks past, she picks it up and puts it in her mouth, and it disappears. "I've heard that consuming domesticated animals whole almost always leads to death...."

"Oh, doctor," the nurse said.

"Not right now, okay, I'm very busy," Ernie explained.

"But doctor, didn't you see?" She points to Bernice. "She swallwed a cat."

"Wow, imagine that, she swallowed a cat!" Ernie hands Bernice a large book. "Here are some forms to fill out, then we can admit you." She says thanks and goes offscreen. "So, Bert, let me get a little history on her." He picked up a chart and a pen on a clipboard.

"Okay, well you know she swallowed the fly."

"Yes, do you know why she swallowed the fly?"

"I don't know why she swallowed the fly."

"Okay, and perhaps she'll die. What happened next?"

"Well, next she swallowed a spider, that wriggled and tickled and jiggled inside her."

Ernie held his fingers to his mouth. "Oh; so you think there was something wrong withe hte cider."

Cool, thanks, I missed that one, I might have to look for it. I don't have time to reaad a lot, though.

As for Praire Dawn, I guess I was figuring if Grover can be a waiter and professor and be supposed to be about 4, Praire Dawn could be a nurse, too. However, an AM could be just as well - or maybe Gina, the vet?

Basically, the nurse has to utter some lines much like Praire when she sees Cookie Monster eating cookies - she tells the doctor (well, the doctor's assistant, Ernie) about the fact that as they stood around talking, Bert's aunt's, cousin's, mother-in-law's sister swallowed a cat, then later after they've put her (the old lady) in a wing of the hospital overlooking a farm, she has to come in and lament, "Ohhhhhh, Doctor, now the goat is missing!" Things like that.

Hmmm, he'd have to be another doctor, maybe a specialist, but it could work. What if Snuffy did it - he says "Oh dear" when things don't go right, and I suppose he could come up to them and say, "Hey, uh, guys. You know that old lady swallowed a fly. Well, she's at it again." And, "Oh, dear. Oh dear. Doctor...I think the goat is issing."

ONly problem would be the size difference - might be a little unwieldy to imagine. So, perhaps an AM is best.
Have Prairie just be an assistant or an intern or something. That might be good. Yeah, well Grover was always an exception. lol. I mean, Prairie has always clearly been just a little girl. I dunno, there are exceptions to everything I guess and its your story. Yes, "Oh Dear" is a catch phrase shared by both Snuffy and Prairie. Funny huh

Thanks. I wonder if Praire could be one of those ladies that goes around delivering little gifts and things to patients. That might work. I know they're pretty common, especially in certain wards; a lady at our church retired and now spends a lot of time visiting patients in a local hospital's cancer ward. It would probably not take much tweaking to have Praire doing that, and then

Great story so far! And the idea of having Prairie as a nurse would be a good one!

Yeah, Prairie could be one of those Sunshine Lady volunteers.

Great story! Yes, I could see Prarie fit into the story. If she's younger, maybe she could be an intern or something. I did like the "Abbott and Costello-like" routine. I also liked the "Swallow a Fly" song. That sounds like something that could really be done on a "Sesame Street" sketch.
