I just realized recently that Team Rocket on Pokemon are Jessie and James - I mean, I always knew that, but that they must have been named after Jesse James, being outlaws and all.

Oh, geez, I guess I knew as soon as I wrote that post that someone would end up offended, sorry. At least she wasn't named Frank.

It tends to convey a hero status to the James Boys, that's the irritant to me, that's all. It's akin to naming your firstborn Charles Dillinger.

And, British names, I'm totally fond of them. Only the Brits can carry them off so neatly. I have British friends who have addresses like that, too, it's charming, although you get writer's cramp when addressing the envelope. Not ham-on-rye but you know what I mean.

The name "Blanche" always reminded me of a dog vomiting. If you say it kind of gruffly *Blanche* it sounds like it too.

Kevin isn't a bad name, but the guy named Kevin is giving the name a bad name...or--something...
And did you consider this before converting the rest of us to Kevinism?

One other name: Have you ever just looked at ELVIS? It looks weird. Check it out:

ELVIS

I could swear that I posted way back when that I wasn't offended, but I don't see a post saying that. So I'll say it now.

My mother had a student who was legally named Bugger.
My dad deserves to have a name like that.

I do wish people would stop naming their boys Frank and Jesse James. This is alarmingly common. Don't they realize that the James Boys were thugs? Or perchance that's the idea.
Actually, my mom informed me this summer that my dad's family is related to them. No kidding. I could die of embarassment. But it explains a lot. (see above post about my dad)

(late to the post as well, apologies to any repeats)

two of my faves:
"No, it's spelled 'Raymond Luxury Yacht', but it's pronounced, 'Throat Warbler Mangrove'!"

I actually saw on a talk show a little girl blessed with the name Cash Monee(pronounced 'moh-nay') Haha!

My brother's friend named his child after the Norse God of Mischief...can't remember, what it is, though.

I went to school with:
Crystal Pearl and Precious Delight

One of the worst I've heard (more than once) is Ulycious. It sounds like a slogan for Iliad brand candy bars.

Just the other day, I saw an obituary for a woman named Female (at least, I assume it was a woman. On the other hand, you know how to spell "assume"...).

But just think, what a handy line - ooh, you are ULYICIOUS. And one could say it and really mean it. (I really should not be let out loose tonight.)
