I am not against the Muppet replicas. But I am against multiple performers for the Muppets. These are glorified dolls. They are not “living”, “breathing”, interacting, real-live Muppets. They don’t have the “soul” or “spirit” that the live Muppets bring to the screen (or if you see them live, bring to the room). These are not claiming to be the Muppets, but rather a likeness of a Muppet. If Sam Eagle shows up on Movies.com, he is presented as Sam Eagle and I expect to see Sam Eagle (not a Sam impersonator). If I see a Sam replica in a display case, it is just a Sam doll. This is no different from the Kermit, Bert & Ernie, and other Muppets on display in museums (except now it is in someone’s home). The personality, character, integrity, spirit, soul, persona, and individuality of the character are untouched here.Fozzie Bear said:I wonder how folks feel about owning this as a fake Muppet that are for the changes in voice actors and performers for other Muppets? If you get what I mean there, the whole double-standard thing? Anybody fit that description? Just curious because...I'm...curious...
A completely life-like and extremely accurate dummy of Harrison Ford (indistinguishable in a photo from the real Harrison) dressed up as Indiana Jones and in a display case in some collector’s displays (although possibly a little creepy) is completely different from a really good impersonator (indistingusihable from the real Harrison) dressed in an Indiana Jones suit going around claiming to be the real Harrison Ford.
