I wonder how folks feel about owning this as a fake Muppet that are for the changes in voice actors and performers for other Muppets? If you get what I mean there, the whole double-standard thing? Anybody fit that description? Just curious because...I'm...curious...
I am not against the Muppet replicas. But I am against multiple performers for the Muppets. These are glorified dolls. They are not “living”, “breathing”, interacting, real-live Muppets. They don’t have the “soul” or “spirit” that the live Muppets bring to the screen (or if you see them live, bring to the room). These are not claiming to be the Muppets, but rather a likeness of a Muppet. If Sam Eagle shows up on Movies.com, he is presented as Sam Eagle and I expect to see Sam Eagle (not a Sam impersonator). If I see a Sam replica in a display case, it is just a Sam doll. This is no different from the Kermit, Bert & Ernie, and other Muppets on display in museums (except now it is in someone’s home). The personality, character, integrity, spirit, soul, persona, and individuality of the character are untouched here.

A completely life-like and extremely accurate dummy of Harrison Ford (indistinguishable in a photo from the real Harrison) dressed up as Indiana Jones and in a display case in some collector’s displays (although possibly a little creepy) is completely different from a really good impersonator (indistingusihable from the real Harrison) dressed in an Indiana Jones suit going around claiming to be the real Harrison Ford.

Muppet puppeteers

I believe that we are just being silly to think that our favorite original muppeteers are gonna live forever. We will have to have replacements one day because we all know that statistics tell us..............1 out of 1 human beings will die!!! It would be ghastly to abandon our Muppet just because the original muppeteer passed on. We need to have our muppet fix in the form of new and exciting entertainment. It'll be very sad if we can't watch an all new Muppet Christmas special each year. It's become a household name. We all accepted Steve Whitmire once Jim was gone, so we need to open our minds and hearts to whomever Steve passes the torch to. I don't know if anyone noticed, but Frank Oz is about as old as Yoda.

As for the replica muppets. I am pretty sure I will be able to make my MR Kermit look as realistic as I want him to be. It shouldn't take me more than an afternoon to make him a working puppet. Now that they've mentioned that Animal is next following Kermit........I am so stoked it's laughable!!!! That one will be a bit harder to make work. With any luck, it will at least be fully poseable like the ones used in posters etc.... and hopefully that means you can move his eyebrows up and down too and pose the mouth at different locations. Only time will tell. And of course if that's not possible.......he'll still look nifty all decked out in a static pose. So it's a big expensive stuffed animal..........I don't care.....he's my all time favorite Muppet and that's just the way it is. I'd give a kidney to own a very very close replica of him.

Cool to hear that Animal is coming out too. I love that guy so much. He reminds me of myself. Funny to say that. :halo:

At last some positive comments about these Master Replicas dolls. I am very excited about getting these dolls. For years I have wandered why a company doesnt make life-like Muppets. I have spent hours trying to turn the eyes in slightly on a kermit doll to make him look more Kermit-like. I personally do not believe that these are fake Muppets. No more than a Fisher Price Kermit doll, or Eden doll. After all, Master Replicas have bought the licence and the product they produce is a higly detailed, high quality likeness product. Palisades buy the license to make a plastic action figure, Master Replicas are making life like 'plushes'. How many times have we complained about a poor quality doll on the Market, so much that we annually put them up on an ugly toy pageant. These are certainly not going to be ugly, and I am excited about adding these to my collection. Great news that they are making Animal. Cant wait til Miss Piggy!! maybe they will extend the line to make clothes. Buy the Kermit doll, then buy the Kermit Xmas Carol outfit, Treasure Island outfit, tux........etc. Maybe even a Santa scarf and hat to dress him ready for the Xmas season!!?

Excellent work Master Replicas!!

PS, Has anyone got the pics from Toyfare mag they can share??

The SaveTheMuppets campaign is not against changing performers – that is inevitable and required for the Muppets to survive. People like Steve Whitmire (Kermit) and Eric Jacobson (Fozzie/Piggy) have been excellent at keeping the Muppet characters of Jim, Frank, and other past performers alive and of high-quality. I'm not against new performers - I would love to see some "fresh blood" in the Muppeteer ranks, and possibly some "exit plans", understudying, and training started for when the inevitable happens. I, and the campaign, are against multiple and simultaneous performers of a single character. And we are opposed to irresponsible convenience-based recasting. Proper recasts and passing on of characters are great (and I encourge that), but what Disney is planning on doing (and already starting to do) is not proper and will (and is already starting to) killing the Muppets.

I personally think these are a great idea and although I've actively stayed away from merchandise I would definately think about collecting a series of Muppet replicas. I like the look of Kermit and I'm guessing that if the rumor about Animal is true then that would really give us an idea of how well they can recreate our favorite characters (my point being that I'd imagine Animal is quite hard to recreate so if they do it well I would definately collect them).

Who would be your dream Muppet replica? Any and all Muppets in the history of Muppetdom are elegible.

I would LOVE a real, honest to goodness Miss Piggy, just like she was on the Muppet Show in the later seasons.

I am putting my hair behind my ears with my wrists in glee just thinking about it!
