I think I missed the first post about it too, though I assumed that was what would happen.

On another note, it looks like the only unconfirmed characters on my list are Lips, Thog, Uncle Deadly and the Variant Kermit I listed in wave 8. I think something was said about a variant Kermit besisides the Reporter Kermit so I put him in.

Now that it looks like there will only be three non-exclusive spots, which will be the three you'd like. I'll start a thread---------

The number of licks necessary to get to the center of a Tootsie roll pop varies depending on the flavor. Seriously. This was the topic of my ninth grade science project. Red (I guess that's cherry? I never actually liked tootsie roll pops) takes significantly fewer licks than rootbeer or grape. Anyway, some where in my mother's attic is the data on the exact number of licks for each flavor....

Hmmm. Could that be because people find cherry better? Grape was always my fave - and I never acrually liked the center of the pops. You could say I enjoyed the journey. Eeek! Too corny even for me!

YYYAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!

I like grape Tootsie Pops, too.

Now, wonder what we have to do to get a Mahna Mahna and 2 Snowths...heh heh, maybe Mahna could have a detachable left eye (what say you MuppetFest goers?)!!

FOZ

(By the way, IF i ever get a chance to make myself a Mahna Mahna puppet, his left eye WILL BE detachable!! HAA!)

Great suggestion, but probably for naught. Would you ever want to be faced with the possibility of facing the legal juggernaut known as Lucasfilm? Well, neither does anybody else!
Well, now I'm a little confused. I was under the impression that Palisades couldn't make the Derth Nader figure because it would conflict with Hasbro's license on Star Wars characters.

But, if I am to understand this post as meaning that Palisades doesn't think Lucasfilm would approve it, then I should point out that Lucasfilm is very easygoing when it comes to parodies.

If I may be permitted to use a recent example, a certain oh, let's say, songwriter I know had no problem getting George himself to approve of a comedic song he wrote about Episode I called "The Saga Begins," and was even allowed to use the likeness of Yoda in the music video.

And obviously Lucasfilm and the Henson company have had a kind relationship together. One would think that in this case, Lucasfilm would have no problem okaying a Henson product like this.

But again, I'm assuming now that the problem is about actually parodying the Star Wars likenesses and not about the fact that Hasbro owns the license for toys based on such likenesses.

I'm just asking? Would Manah Manah qualify as a Muppet show Muppet? I can't recall many skits with him on the show (Of course, I can't recall many of the episodes, having not seen them in eons!!). I can best remember him on Sesame Street, singing Everybody's song, Air, and See the Fat cat sat on the mat.... Of course, I could be wrong. He could've been one of those odd Muppets that appears on both shows (Rowlf did it once, and Kermit used to be on Sesame all the time). But I would lobby to see a Manah Manah Set with Snowths (Is it just me, or do they look like those Birdos from Super Mario 2?)

Mahna Mahna...

I think he's an important part of the Muppets because he was on both shows, and other shows besides that, and was (I think I'm right) the first act for The Muppet Show?

I never saw the birds on Mario Bros; but the Snowths look like my aunts.

doo do doo do do do do do do do do doo do doo do doo

Mahna Mahna

and my aunts talk like that, too (at least, that's how it sounds).

Mahna Mahna

Like Kermit & Rowlf, Mahna Mahna was in exsistence before Sesame Street (and by extension The Muppet Show) - while the character has appeared in both series, i'd definately classify him as a Muppet Show character.

Aside from songs on records, there's never been any promotional pictures or merchanise for Sesame that featured his likeness - he's been in several group shots (photos and illustrations) connected with The Muppet Show however.

Perhaps because he was ultimately more connected with The Muppet Show, Sesame Street ultimately redesigned the character and called him a different name. Plus. the puppet used on The Muppet Show is of the same design associated with the original puppet where Sesame has always used a Mahna Mahna character that has more of an Anything Muppet base. (Mahna Mahna did once make it on a magazine cover w/ Ernie & Bert and that shot did feature the classic puppet, but i don't believe this puppet was ever actually used on the show proper)

LOL, they do look like Birdos! I remember playing that game with my cousin and going "Do do do do do" every time we got to one of those!

Back to the original subject.

Chances

Ken,

A while back on the old board someone listed some Muppets and asked what the chances were of them being made as figures. I just wanted to know if any of the following have changed, or rather what their chances are now:

Marvin Suggs (I recall you saying you'd definitely be making him- insert disclaimer here- btw, would he come with 8 Muppaphones?)

Mahna Mahna (classic character, very popular around here, integral part of Muppet history and his sketch is well-known to even the most casual of fans)

Uncle Deadly (like you said, you wanted to make some 'different looking' characters)

Any chance of having packs of Muppet 'extras' like background pigs, chickens, frogs, monsters, etc? I fully realize they wouldn't sell as individuals but having addt'l chorus members would up the play value I think.

One last thing: I know you said the stage playset is a while off now, which is good because then it doesn't have to be rushed. I'd like to know if you'd thought about making the back wall of the theater actually have the back wall of the theater (know what I'm talking about? Check the Steve Martin episode to see what I mean). I know the original plan was the arches, but since it's going to be the most accurate playset it's something to consider. One thing I'd love is to have some backgrounds that you can hang in front of the back wall (since not everything on the show was a regular sketch/took place in one of those playsets). That way you could stage your own musical numbers and have a set for them, and that'd be totally cool! There are a couple of staple backgrounds they used on the show: one was used often for short bits with the guest star in the first season and also for some UK Spots; another debuted on the Dom DeLuise episode (UK Spot "Henrietta's Wedding" and also closing #); and there's the 'big hall/archways' backdrop, yellow/gold in color (Marvin Suggs & All-Food Glee Club's "Yes We Have No Bananas" on the Steve Martin ep, "Any Old Iron" from the Elton John ep, Gonzo reciting Shakespeare while hanging from his nose by a feather boa in the Teresa Brewer ep). There are others, but these are the three that spring to mind first. The stage could have a back wall like the actual theater but you can hang different backdrops right in front of it. What does everyone else think of this idea?

Thanks for taking the time to read all of this.
