Gonzo's accessories include Camilla the Chicken as a pack-in figure, his trademark bugle, and a box of candy for wooing his poultry love. Not sure if a bouquet or bunch of flowers will make it into the final retail figure or not, it's up to Ken to confirm this fact one way or another. Hope this helps.

Palisades/Henson Coloring

Awesome!

I'm worried by this statement: "Note that the colors on the nose are being revisited" -- they're the closest yet! Don't let Henson tell you it's blue!

Does anyone else besides me feel that Henson themselves are the reason for some of the very few shortcomings of the line? Pink headed Animal, sky-blue Gonzo nose, Floyd's flourescent moustache... etc.

It seems Henson has two sets of style guidelines that they use - the puppets themselves and representations of them by outside sources. I get the feeling that the colors Palisades are being told to use are just the default colors that Henson tells people to use for CARTOONS of the Muppets.

While I understand (somewhat) that, for example, the desire to have cartoons of Gonzo have consistent coloring, they have to settle for something easy to reproduce. But when you've got an incredible company like Palisades who is willing to do a dozen paint passes (or whatever they're called) just to get Gonzo's nose right, you'd hope that they'd cut them a little slack. Palisades seems more dedicated to preserving the characters' likenesses than JHC themselves.

I think the coloring of Floyd is the best example of my theory that they are using cartoon coloring. The seperation of the moustache and hair colors makes perfect sense for a cartoon -- otherwize you wouldn't be able to distinguish them in a 2-dimensional line-drawing, and there'd just be a mass of red around his head. However, when you look at the puppet or the figure, there's no need for such a drastic color distinction.

The final item of evidence is Ken's comments on the "Clifford" thread on the Palisades. Hi posted a cartoon of Clifford first, and also the puppet. When asked what the colors would be like he responded that they would be exactly like the cartoon, and "close" to the puppet...

Does this make sense? Does it matter to any besides me? Has my long-repressed desire for a correctly colored Gonzo-nose driven me to insanity?

A lot of the decisions Palisades makes on colors are right-on. I think they had the better colors even on Animals head to begin with, didn't they?

I think that they don't get a say sometimes. I remember the Floyd moustache/hair difference being a Henson decision - am I remembering this correctly?

Who knows, I could be way off... accusing poor innocent companies of poor color choices...

Leprechaun Brothers

I had not been familiar with the Leprechaun Brothers, but yesterday when I was listening to Muppet Central Radio I heard their rendition of "Danny Boy". Now I REALLY want to see these made! If perchance it ever happened, I would suggest putting in a mini-CD of the song so you can have it playing while you show them.

Somebody mentioned that they were in the Muppets Inside CD-Rom. I still have that around here someplace. Does anybody know if it will work with Windows XP before I try to fire it up again?

Another interesting tidbit:

Members of the Leprechaun Brothers: Beaker, Animal, and the Swedish Chef.

First figures included in playsets: Beaker, Animal, and the Swedish Chef.

I agree with you. However, I don't think that the tweaking means the nose will be blue. I think Ken's just talking about subtle changes. No worries.

Man, I remember when this line came out I thought, "Ok, I'll just get Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, and Kermit. That's all. And maybe Rowlf."

I meant to write Gonzo instead of another Kermit. As much as I love the frog, I have a special place in my heart for our little whatever.

And can anyone fill me in on what the Leprechan Brothers did or were? I know it was Beaker, Animal and Chef. Lord it must be hilarious when they try to sing.

I'm all for extra varients of those three.

It was! They sang "Danny Boy" if I remember correctly... The concept was taken a little too far in the Muppets Inside game in which various combinations of the three sang songs for the finale of the Name-That-Song games.

Saturday Night Live later did a similar joke with Holiday songs by Frankenstein, Tonto and Tarzan...
