Chapter 20.
Everybody inside was having a good time, wining and dining the night away. Everybody that is, except for an anxed amphibian. Kermit was worried at the fact that Christmas was now six days away, and there was one person who still hadn't made it to the castle. The frog ambled his way to an empty window, looking outside in the hopes of spotting her... Only the moleish janitor noticed him there at the moment, leaning on one of the staircase's lower steps.
"There'll be an awful lot of snow for me to clean up tomorrow. Arent' you glad you're all comfy cozy in here?" asked Beauregard.
"Yeah Bo... But we're not all here" Kermit sighed.
"That's one worried frog" Bo commented to himself after Kermit departed a few seconds later.
"Ah ha! That's 1, 1 vorried frog!" exclaimed the Count.
Thankfully, they were oblivious to the news that the diva was indeed on her way. She managed to convince Catherine to pick them up, only after exasperation set in when she couldn't get an extravagant limo to deliver her where the Muppets would be staying for the holidays. Catherine's towncar was OK for the few people traveling inside, though it was far from what Piggy would've liked. The porcine diva sat in the back seating area, Maureen at her elbow and Foo-Foo on her lap.
"Yes Foo-Foo darling... We'll soon be with your daddums" cooed Miss Piggy to her fluffy yet primped white poodle.
"You girls getting along back there?" queried Catherine, a slight twinge of myrth in her voice.
"Sure ting Cath... After all, Miss Piggy's one of the greatest stars of all time... I just loved her in t'at movie of hers" answered the Brooklyn-voiced mink. "You know the one... The one wit all the swimmers and t'at jool heist."
"Oh, that little film?" retorted the diva "Moi had a marvelous time filming that one."
"Weren't yoo afraid when yoo had to do t'at swimming number?"
"No dearie... That was mere child's play for a star of my natural talents."
"Right" Catherine smirked to herself in a low voice "as if she didn't need the practice."
The last remaining passenger, riding in the front seat, wasn't paying attention... She was listening to the live feed from MC Radio on her Ipod with headphones plugged into the device. Uneasy about leaving, she agreed to come when Cathy offered her a ride.
"Anything good Kathy?" asked the driver.
"Huh?" replied the other woman, taking her a moment to realize someone was talking to her.
"Said, anything good?"
"Oh yeah... Sorry, mostly Christmas Muppet music... A few other songs I programmed as well."
Carter alerted Ed and the Count that a non-descript towncar pulled up out on the front lawn, waiting for an escort into the castle's main parlor. Kermit half-perked up when he was told what was happening outside.
"Is it... Can it be? She's always gotta be the center of..." muffled voices rang out as the congregation assembled outside.
The smile on Kermit's face was wider than a Cheshire cat's and the warmth on his face could melt the snow accumulated on the castle grounds. Even if he didn't want to admit it to her, he was glad that Piggy finally made it. After the diva got her escort as part of her grand entrance, the rest of the party started to disperse. Or rather, they would have... If their ears hadn't picked up a melodious round of carollers nearing the master doomicile.
