Lol. He does doesn't he.

Well another update for Jez, he now has a body and arms and some clothes! Not quite sticking to the concept picture (since I haven't quite worked out how I'm going to make a leather jacket) he is now wearing a smaller size top of the uniform I have to wear where I work... don't ask

Jez has been getting positive responses, especially from friends and my work colleages (yes I brought him into work!)

"Where did you get him?"

"I made him"

[Astonished]"You made him?!"

Update: Jez will be getting legs, after a failed attempt to make some long furry red arms for myself, I sewed them too tight, so they will be good and long enough for Jez's legs. Pictures soon.

On another note, can anyone tell me what Fozzie the Bear is made out of? The fur that is. I can't seem to find any suppliers of that type of fur. The Hoobs are made of the same fur (I think) and I can't find any anywhere!

Help! :-p

you wont find fozzie bear fur any wear , the stuff the original was made out of , and all the current fozzies as well.was made in the 1970's, they do not make it any more, all though if you had a sample of the fabric you could contact a fabric mill that makes fake fur , and ask them to make some for you , they usually have a minimum order in the area of 15,000 yards , (yes you read that right)its very expensive and can take many weeks to get your order,

so i think u are better off searching the web for similar styles of fur that you might be able to order.

oh and the hoobs are not made from the same stuff, it was a long pile fake fur that was white ,that was then dyed the colors that you saw.

that fur is avalible but it starts off straight and fluffy , it gets that curly texture when it is being dyed,it was just left unrestored

Update: December 1st 2004

Right, well, after a long time of buying materials, doing test heads and cutting fur, I have finally finished (well last Tuesday I finished) a "portrait puppet" of my boss, Sean.

This is my first puppet involving antron fleece, which I am getting quite good at sewing, the very last sew on the head skin just happen to look the most invisible! And this is my first go at a human.

Unfortunately the dyeing of the fleece didnt happen as planned. I left it with mum to do, since I am awful at using the washing machine, and I wasnt entirely sure if Antron does well in the washing machine... well... for future reference... it doesnt.

I wanted a more browny skin colour, but instead I got a large bit of pink fleece with brown marks everywhere... luckily I had enough clean pink fleece to use for Sean's skin.

Keeping in mind it was the Boss's birthday Tuesday and I was doing this as a last minute thing. The fleece got dyed on Sunday night. So I rushed with trying to learn to sew fleece and get the head right.

I managed to pin the features on and it looked great (there are pics for this I may or may not post) but when it came to sewing the features on... I couldn't get the nose straight!!! So to me it looks awfully wonky... but no one noticed...

Here are the pictures, in general construction order,

The naked head with test eyes and eyebrows;

The semi finished article, looks like he could live on Avenue Q;

And guess which one is the muppet... puppet and puppet maker;

Lemme know what you think. I'll try and get a more adequate picture of the Boss and the Puppet together for comparison. I'm told they look alike, but I'm not convinced!

Has anyone any idea how to fashion hair styles with fur? ala Rod from Avenue Q or any other muppet/puppet with fashioned hair?

I've tried use the end of my hot glue gun to heat the hair up to fashion but I end up with hair ends on my gun.

Any ideas?

Right after a very long time and many holes in fingers I've finally managed to finish the "Sean" puppet... the rod isn't exactly attached to him properly since I had sew up the antron fleece on his hands before I managed to get something in there to attach a rod too - so its temporary right now.

And here it is again but with me behind... its not really that big compared to me... its just closer to frame.

What do people think?
