Looking at that review, it sounds like the clips are being presented in a random order instead of chronologically (unless it's not being literal with Grover starting things off with Fuzzy and Blue).

I wonder if The Count's own counting song is referring to The Song of the Count or The Number of the Day Song (or maybe something else, but those are the first two that come to mind).

Any idea what it's referring to with "the amazing story of pie"?

Why not? Crumby Pictures is really the best out of the three modern recurring Cookie Monster segments.

Yeah, there's three hours space for 50 years worth of material. Two of the same thing takes away time from other stuff, especially because those segments are longer than others.
