The rebuild I've wanted to do for two years...

ashKent I totally agree with your comments and that's part of the magic. Without doing s drawing or having a visual reference to work from I find it hard to visualise the stages. And if I'm honest it's only by seeing the work stages of others thats enabled me to know starting blocks and how to...

    Question about Sculpt or Coat

I've started reading a few books that mention Sculp and Coat that they apply to foam skulls and fleece but it doesn't mention the purpose or advantage of doing so. What is the purpose and benefits of this process?

    Texturizing fur.......questions!

after reading this thread I did a test on some black long fur today out of curiosity to see how it's appearance changes. I cut a 6 inch diameter piece and boiled it for 6 minutes making sure it didn't touch the metal sides of the pan. I then pressed it between a towel to get most of the water...

Head Forming - Reticulated Foam versa Regular construction

Brilliant!! What a difference oiling the blade makes. Cuts a lot smoother and doesn't pull as you draw the blade :)

Head Forming - Reticulated Foam versa Regular construction

Buck-beaver just spent a couple of hours with some scrap foam and blades from a Stanley knife (box cutter) wow those blades blunt very quick but the positive is they cut like butter when fresh. So plenty of fresh blades and patience I'm a lot happier with the cutting. Cheers again :)

Head Forming - Reticulated Foam versa Regular construction

Thank you Buck-Beavers and D'Snowth for your replies and valued information. I have downloaded Buck-Beavers wedge pattern but before I start playing around with the different shapes I'm going to invest in a flat bed hot wire foam cutter to ensure I get a good straight cut. The pattern for the...

Hi everyone I'm new to the forum and new to making puppets so it's been a frustrating few months of learning and re patterning and re sewing. Still navigating round the MC site and finding my bearings. Some fantastic posts and replies on here. Deciding on eyes is my current challenge.
