Your Thoughts: "Families Stand Together" Sesame Street Special

You mean this guy? Yes, he looks like a Muppet version of Mr. Nelson. I got word straight from some of the Sesame Street puppeteers that the character was designed to be a caricature of Jerry Nelson, and they ever called the character "Jerry" on the set.

Elmo on The Today Show (9/6/09)

Yes, the Muppets have been making the rounds to get the word out about the special. Elmo made a surprise appearance on the Sunday edition of NBC's Today to talk about the program. He returned to Today on Tuesday, this time bringing his mommy (May) to offer some advice for families. And he...

    Your Thoughts: Dinosaur Train

I caught the show today and loved it! Great characters, great educational content, and super catchy songs (I still can't get the theme song out of my head). And if you want to learn a bit about what went into developing and creating the show, check out these great interviews on YouTube...

    See?

I wouldn't call Kramer, George, Jerry, and Elaine "average people." They were pretty much extremists too - albeit extremists about the small things, social decorum, petty injustices, and airline peanuts.

Dark Crystal Spoof on Robot Chicken

I thought their Dark Cristal sketch was pretty well done. Mixing The Dark Crystal with a modern Hip-Hop flavor was not only a great juxtaposition; but the whole thing was pretty well done. I thought the Fraggle Rock parody from a while back, was pretty good too. It was as much a parody of...

    See?

As I said earlier: just because (1) someone's initial question has been answer or the main issue of a thead has passed, why shut down any further discussion from occuring? And (2) if a member has crossed the line, is attacking others, and is breaking the rules, then deal with that individual and...

    Who makes the Muppets now?

Yes, Puppet Heap is run by former Henson staff - and many of the builders worked on the Muppets when they were still with Henson. Now as for why Disney went with Puppet Heap rather than Henson's Creature Shop... there were several reasons, but the main one had to do with the almighty dollar.

    See?

"this discussion is now a moot point"... so? There are many threads throughout this forum that are primarily irrelevant and the subjects have become fairly moot at this point in time - but we don't lock them down and halt any further discussion from happening just because the original question...

    Who makes the Muppets now?

The Muppets owned by Disney (Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, Piggy, and the gang) are primarily built and maintained by Puppet Heap. The Muppets owned by Sesame Workshop (Big Bird, Oscar, Elmo, Grover, and the gang) are primarily built and maintained by Jim Henson's Creature Shop.

Elmo on The Today Show (9/6/09)

STOP with the thread closures already!

ugh...really? Closed? Why? I was actually just about to post about the Dark Crystal parody on Robot Chicken. Can someone show me where in the forum rules it says we can't talk about things like this?

Your Thoughts: Kermit and Miss Piggy on America's Got Talent

I DID NOT and DO NOT tune in to see "Steve's Rendition of Kermit" either. I tuned in to see Kermit but I didn't see him. I saw a Kermit puppet and I heard a somewhat Kermit-like voice; but it wasn't Kermit. Sure, it was a decent simulation... but it wasn't the real genuine Kermit the Frog. And...

Your Thoughts: Kermit and Miss Piggy on America's Got Talent

Yeah, the difficult part here is we don't know what really happened (and we may never know for sure). I've put pleas out to some of my insider contacts, but no one has answered (and if they did, they've said they couldn't comment or didn't know). The possibilities are endless and with nothing...

Your Thoughts: Kermit and Miss Piggy on America's Got Talent

Let me say that I'm not anti-recasts. This is not a "I don't want anyone else ever touching Kermit" situation or protest. Also I don't think the performance of Kermit on 'America's Got Talent' was necessarily bad - it was not dead-on perfect, but it was pretty darn good. But I don't care if it...
