Actually, from what you wrote I have a strong suspicion that this is the clip you're referring to...I left out the detail that there was a part in the clip when the man said long drawn out "Betweeeeen". I'm not sure if its in youtube as yet.
(hmmmm....so let's see...carry over the one and add this to that....) :) That makes 8 songs so far huh? Quite a few of them. Ernie is really attached to that rubber duckie, funny enough it never had a name, or did it... or is it simply known as rubber duckie?
Yeah, its like they just got rid of Sherlock just like Herbert Birdsfoot. Pity... but as you said, we can hope for that greatly anticipated SS old school DVD.
I was just thinking of putting a silly post; I wonder how many songs Ernie did that had either a direct or subtle reference to his rubber duckie? I can only think of a few:
There's Honker, duckie, dinger jamboree
Rubber Duckie
Dance Myself to Sleep.
Are there any more?:p
Anyone out there knows why his character was retired? I enjoyed his sketches as a kid, and his song "X marks the spot" was one of my favorites. Was this character controversial in some way that I don't know about or probably he didn't appeal to kids? Egad! Seems we have a mystery here.;)
Just a hunch
Is the clip you're thinking about have anything to do with an unlucky, short and skinny guy who goes through the day being between people? I remember one part of this clip where he's between two huge guy with jackhammers along an assembly line, but when its his turn he lightly taps...
Linda Alphabet Sketch
There was an Alphabet Sketch that Linda did (probably late 70's - early 80's), it had 2 Lindas side by side- one Linda signed the letters calmly and the other rather unconventional. The whole sketch had a male voiceover and I hated the way the voiceover was done...
Although these are some of my earliest recollections of Sesame Street, I could remember the Pointer Sisters in HUGE afros, fully dressed in typical 70's styles singing about the alphabet. I remember the last the words to that song were: " A-B-C...and X-Y-Z...(and the sister with the deepest...
There's only one E-egg cartoon I could think of- the clip with a man making the introduction saying E-egg, then in a bizarre and comical twist, a COW making chicken sounds sits on the egg, the egg hatches and out comes a chick making a moo sound. Beats me, the only other egg clip had a man...
Yep, you hammered the nail on the head as they say. Thanks for your reply, its all coming back to me now. I'm hoping this great clip comes out on youtube in the near future.
There certainly was one
I can say that because my uncle has a clipping of a newspaper way back from 1960's-early 1970's, and in there in the comics section- there was Sesame Street. It was only one clipping he had but I remember seeing Christopher Clumsy, and no doubt Julius and Jasper were...
Anyone remember the Opera featuring 5 Anything Muppets? It taught us kids back then to count to 5. Part of it went something like:" You and you and you and me make 4..." I remember Jim Henson's voice in there and a very good female opera singer as well. Anyone remember knows this one?
I vaguely remember Luis with the band in the store, but I distinctly recall Luis with a band singing a song with the lyrics: "Alegria means happiness", that was a great song with all the brass instruments. I think apart from Luis doing the vocals, he was strumming the guitar as well. Circa 1980?
Hey, who knows? It could be possible. A lot of prolific actors have been on the Street like James Earl Jones, Natalie Portman and Christopher Reeve. If there was a way to drop an email to her just to find out.
YES! Thank you!
Dude, You are the greatest! Thank you very much. I haven't heard that cassette in YEARS. I'm gonna check it out and buy it. We always had it on until the tape stretched. I'm glad its released again. Thanks again.
