I know I'm not Keeeeermit (I hope that's the right number of 'e's) but there have been multiple posts about eye mechanisms. The mechanism is really easy to explain in a drawing, but much harder to translate into words. Just do a forum search for "eye mech" and you should find it.
For the duck bill, I would make the bill so that your fingers go on the top half of the bill, and your thumb works the jaw. As far as the shaping, I would let the natural curve of your fingers create the curve in the top half of the bill--kind of like how Kermit's skull is shaped by the...
It was great. I know it was only supposed to be a 1 minute short, but I would've loved to see the story and characters developed more. Maybe even a sitcom about 2 'frat-buddy' aliens? I dunno. Great puppets and puppetry though!

Here's some previous threads about the subject. Hope they...
I just ordered The Foam Book with the dvds and George Latshaw's Complete Book of Puppetry. I can hardly wait to read them! What are you guys' thoughts on these books?
On a separate note, I've been helping baby-sit a friend's daughter, and am now getting into watching "It's a Big, Big World"...
I personally like 'muppet style' puppets because they're what I'm most familiar with and seem to be the most expressive. While other puppetry styles are perfectly valid, there's just something 'engaging' about a muppet-style puppet.
I remember these guys from when I was in school. I didn't know they had videos! The company that sells them is still around, but they've updated the looks: http://www.abramsandcompany.com/letterpeople_index.cfm Some things just get better with time!
I'm working on getting a puppet troupe set up at my church. Our first song is going to be "He's got the Whole World (in His Hands)." I was thinking that one of my characters for this performance is going to be a globe. I was also thinking of putting blinkers in it too. So my question is--Can...
Nick, that is good stuff, I agree.
Gordon,
Even the muppets had seam issues on lighter colors--look at some of the anything muppets you can see seams on them. One thing I've found is to try and incorporate the seam into the design--sew it in a place where you'd expect there to be a line...
While snouts are possible with 'flat patterning', you may want to check out Jared Bouttcher's foam carving tutorial http://www.angelfire.com/jazz/puppets/make.html The look you want may be easier to achieve that way.
Sorry I can't help more,
Jason
I have the opportunity to attend both the P of A 'Puppet Rampage' festival and a One Way Street festival in my area. I've never been to a puppetry festival of any sort before, and I wondered what you guys thought about them. I also have a little bit of a dilemma. Due to economic and job...
I don't know about companies that make them but for some excellent tutorials/walkthroughs try Nicodemus' Fursuit pages and Snapdragon Puppets. I think Snapdragon may do custom work, but they're located in the Northwest.
Hope this helps!
