Wow! People are still interested in Beaker, huh? That's cool. I'm glad you all like him so much!
TML: The tubes are oatmeal cans that are about 4 inches in diameter and just about 13 inches around.
Walter: I don't perform much with my replicas, but Beaker has been out and about at school...
Thanks everyone! Glad you all like him!
Phillip: Not sure that I'll do any other Pac-People, but I was considering doing a ghost or something at some point, just for fun.
Gonzo's Hobbit: I don't have any plans for Pac-Man, actually. I just thought he'd be fun to make given that, as...
Fozzie Bear isn't the only one who likes to say "Wocka wocka!" ;)
It's Pac-Man! Why? Why not! I thought he'd make a fun puppet, mainly because Pac-Man pretty much already looks like a puppet anyway. He's pretty darn simple, made from an altered version of this pattern...
The nose is a styrofoam egg, covered in orange fleece stretched and glued over it, with a few cuts in it to get rid of wrinkles and make it lay flat. Pretty much the exact same concept as the eyes.
I assume you're referring to my Beaker. Here's the thread:

There's a good bit of information in there about how I constructed my puppet's mouth and such.
And I must say, Sam is looking good so far!
To be quite honest...I don't really have either. I've got some various little pattern pieces and stuff, but nothing real helpful since I was making up a lot of stuff as I went along.
I guess I'm kind of hoping I never have to build another one...
As it were, I have no plans to add legs to this puppet. As my comparison pic shows, all my previous Kermits had legs. The problem with that is that when I use my puppets, it's always just in front of friends and family, so his legs just hang limp in the air since he's not usually standing or...
The main material is blizzard fleece. Jo-Ann Fabric had only one shade of green, but it was remarkably close to "Kermit green" if not perhaps a bit too light. The collar is regular old anti-pill fleece instead of felt, chosen simply because it was about the proper color for his collar...
My previous two Kermit puppets were based on that picture, but my current one really isn't. The head and arms are still fairly similar in design, but I altered them quite a bit for the newer one. The body is a completely different (and admittedly much simpler) design.
Also, Kermit's head has...
Yeah, I too am extremely picky about my voice impressions. Perhaps too much so, because I tend to get pretty self-conscious about them! Fortunately, I don't really "perform" with any of my replicas, so I don't mind that that my voices tend to sound a bit off. It's the likeness of the puppet...
Afternoon, folks! Today, I am proud to present my very latest Muppet replica: Kermit the Frog 4.0!
My primary goal with this Kermit puppet was to create a replica that looks like the current Kermit puppet being used right now. Most Kermit replicas I've seen (including my own) usually seem to...
I got that Muppet Show one a while back at a Kohl's store, except the version I got was a very light blue instead of Navy. Not sure if they still have it, though. It's the exact same image on the shirt.
The head ducking is demonstrated in the video I posted. It's relatively smooth, but it's hard to do when I'm working the puppet alone. It's not perfect, but I wanted to make sure it was possible, even if it was a feature I didn't use much.
Okay, here's a quick clip of my replica. It was done pretty fast with my web-cam, so it's not great (and the image is mirrored) but you can get a feel for how the puppet works.

The mouth is actually pretty simple. For all basic purposes, it's just a regular puppet mouth plate, but vertical. The inside is made of foam so it can fit the shape of the tube and be somewhat flexible. The jaw is cut from the tube with a piece of fun foam (foamies-type foam) on top so it...
Well, it was a frustrating road to get here, but my Beaker replica is done! His lab coat turned out to be a real pain, since I had never really attempted something like that, but I'm pleased with the results, overall.
Here's some pictures...
Each can is 7 1/2 inches (or about 27 1/2 cm) tall. I used two cans, with Beaker's mouth at the bottom of the first can. However, I believe the real Beaker is actually a bit taller than mine.
