Until very recent times Sesame Street used to have the odd apprearance (sp?) of people from other shows and the like. Who among you remembers seeing:
Fonz from Happy Days.
Beetle Bailiy
Jughead from Archie
Edith Ann and Ernestine from Laugh-In
The Simpsons
Max Headroom
Batman and Robin
Well, not a lot really, aside from the fact that they are both produced by Barking Dog productions and Mitchell Kreigman is involved with both. One major thing they have is that every episode of both seires ends with the same song, which says goodbye.
Anyone else notice that?
I was just wondering if anyone out there had that book? I never had it myself but a friend of mine did.
I was one of those books that you could order with your child's name in it. It had Big Bird and Snuffle-Upagus searching for something for every letter of the alphabet and everything the Bird...
I have read a lot of posts about the fessabilty about the entire series of Sesame Street coming out on DVD and as much as I would like to see it happen, I have to admit, it would be a huge gamble.
But here is something that I think they should at least do; they should bring out the first ever...
I really believe that this show started a trend, because soon afterwards we started seeing shows like The Flinstone Kids and A Pup Named Scooby Doo which had establised cartoon characters as children. This may also have led to Rugrats All Growed Up which took the reverse approach.
Not long again I found a copy of this record in an op-shop and I just had to get it. I'm so glad I did because it's a great record. For those who haven't heard it, it has Count Von Count doing a radio show and playing songs like "It's a Lovely Eleven Morning", "The Alligator King" and "Ladybugs...
You know something, I think The Count hepnotizes (sp?) people.
He seems to have put Grover under a spell in one early sketch set in Charlie's restruant. Instead of the Fat Blue Guy, we had The Count who kept asking Grover to get him a hot dog. After he has handed him three hot dogs, The Count...
There was a cartoon about a cat and a mouse, which I'd say goes back to the mid-80's. In this cartoon, it starts off with a cat chasing a mouse while bongos and a mouth-organ are heard. Then the mouse runs into a hole and the cat bumps itself. Then it thumps the wall and the mouse thumps back...
I was born in 1972, one year after Sesame Street started being shown in my country. I can only remember back to when I was three or four, and even then, the middle section of the theme song, the part that starts off with, "It's a magic carpet ride", never seemed to be used, except in...
There are several things that make the first season of The Muppet Show different to what was to follow:
The opening. (For instance, instead of trying to blow a horn, Gonzo tries to hit the O in "Show".
Four wise-cracking houses.
Wayne and Wonder (always introduced by Sam)
Hilda.
Miss...
For my money, I liked Follow That Bird better. Elmo In Grouchland wasn't bad, but I'm not that wild about Elmo, and besides, the interuptions by Ernie and Bert jarred a bit.
I just wondered if anyone out there remembers this show as well as I do? Here in Australia, The Magic Roundabout was on the same channel as Sesame Street - ABC - and if my memory serves me correctly, in the late 70's The Magic Roundabout came on after the afternoon edition of Sesame Street. I...
Fraggle Rock books.
There are two Fraggle Rock books I have and a third that belongs to my brother.
The one that belongs to my brother is If I Were King Of The Universe, in which Junior Gorg dreams of being King, but then decides that he is happier being what he is. I remember Joel got that...
I don't have as many of these as I do books but I am going to list all the ones I do have:
Bert and Ernie Sing-Along. The first Sesame record I ever had.
Somebody Come and Play.
Ernie's Hits. My favorite track on this is The Listening Game.
Happy Birthday. I got this on cassette for my...
Not long ago I picked up some back issues of The Australian Women's Weekly that were printed in the early 70's, and some of them had a comic strip version of Sesame Street. It was written and drawn by Cliff Roberts. Does anyone know more about it?
