Hey everyone Patrick and I just finished three more puppets for the Swazzle puppet shows Rex and Boots Super Sleuths and B.A.R.K. The Robot Dog. Check them out:
Parrot rod puppet by Patrick Johnson: http://swazzle.com/blogs/2006/05/parrot.html
Sheep dog puppet by me...
Well, You can loose something in the translation when moving from a two dimensional drawing to a three dimensional puppet (of course you can gain something too) - also, some changes are made because a drawing has no limitations but an actual physical puppet does. Thank you for your thoughts though.
If anyone is looking for information on building puppets from prefabricated foam shapes, check out my newly completed puppet building tutorial. I documented how I made the peas for Puppet Greetings.com. Check it out: http://swazzle.com/blogs/puppet101.html
Thank you, the puppet show is going to be a lot of fun. Check out our schedule to see when we're touring the show in your town: http://www.swazzle.com/schedule.html
Thanks everybody for your kind words. I did document the making of this puppet, and I'm planning on posting the making of it on my blog at some point in the future.
Hey everyone check out this hamster puppet that Patrick just finished. I think he came out so cute. You can't tell from the picture (thanks to the magic of Photoshop), but he is actually a rod puppet. The hamster ball spins around him and he remains stationary, so he can roll around the stage...
Hey everybody, I just finished another new puppet for the Swazzle puppet show, Rex and Boots Super Sleuths. This is Lady Fromage, she is a small mouse rod puppet. Check it out: http://swazzle.com/blogs/2006/04/meet-lady-fromage.html
Thanks to you both! You will be seeing more new puppets soon. As our puppet show deadline draws near the puppets are coming fast and furious. We like robots too - one of the great thing about doing our own puppet shows, is we can make and design the characters that we want to make.
Check out this new puppet built by Patrick Johnson for the Swazzle puppet show, B.A.R.K. The Robot Dog. The puppet is large rod puppet measuring nearly three feet tall. http://swazzle.com/blogs/2006/04/meet-bad-bark.html :D
For those of you having trouble with the liner getting bunched up, I recommend sewing a hoop of dress boning onto the bottom of the liner. This will help it keep shape, prevent it from getting caught up inside the puppet, and make it easier to pull the puppet on and off. :)
