Actually, I forgot that I *did* put "Istanbul" in there too. It was sung by Anything Muppets dressed as explorers, and at song's end, Gobo and Travelling Matt would pop out of a hole in the ground a la Bugs Bunny and Gobo would ask "Where are we, anyway?"
Let's see...
Of course, Jim Henson's and Richard Hunt's passings, not to mention those of Will Lee (Mr. Hooper) and Northern Calloway (David), especially because of the conflicting reports I've heard of Mr. Calloway's passing.
Ernie & Bert's "Gift of the Magi" (CEOSS)
Gobo trying to...
Well, wherever Grover goes, I hope he doesn't go anyplace where dropping the food on the floor is considered an insult...
OLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLEOLE...*splat*
Lulu was also made over for this season. WHereas before she was dark blue (almost Cookie Monster/Groverish color), she's now more periwinkle and she has glasses.
From what I heard, Joey Mazzarino and David Rudman are now the Two-Headed Monster. I can understand why Jerry wouldn't want to...
Here's what the Vet's Hospital skit would sound like:
ANNOUNCER: It's time once again for "Veterinarian's Hospital", the continuing story of a quack who's gone to the dogs...
JANICE: Here's the next patient, Dr. Bob!
(Rowlf pulls back the sheet to reveal a quivering Boober Fraggle)...
I personally think the following would work:
Boober (his comic possibilities would be endless. I could see him as a recurring patient on Vet's Hospital, and predicting doom and gloom backstage)
Mokey (She and Janice would get along famously, resulting in more comic mishaps for Floyd, such...
My personal favorites:
"Dum of a Son of a Gun"--Jerry and Richard's characters always did interact well together.
"I Sniff The Rose"--now what if Gonzo sang that song dressed as a gypsy lady? (Of course, Boober AND the Old Gypsy Lady would run him offstage...)
I always thought the...
Plus, at one time, we had a near-complete Sesame Street one going on that board.
Here's some early Muppets for you:
Kermit (Kermit the First, that is...no collar, darker shade of green, and no flippers)
Sam
Yorick
Mushmelon (looks a bit like Oscar)
Icky Gunk
Moldy Hay (looks a bit...
Actually, Dicky Barrett (lead singer for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones) sounds more like Dr. Teeth. I could picture the band playing "Hope I Never Lose My Wallet" (my favorite Bosstones song) because of this.
I also created an entire outline of TMS with They Might Be Giants as the special guest...
SPECIAL GUEST STAR: LEE GREENWOOD
OPENING THEME
OPENING NUMBER: Pa and Junior Gorg make a cameo appearance, singing "Dum of a Son of a Gun".
STATLER: Y'know, my son's not too bright either.
WALDORF: How do you figure?
STATLER: He's the one that got me season tickets to this show...
I could see the Mayhem performing "32 Footsteps", with Floyd and Dr. Teeth sharing lead vocals. (Dr. Teeth particularly on the "Bing bang bingalong..." part.)
How about:
"A Kiss To Build A Dream On"--Louis Armstrong (Dr. Teeth on vocals, Zoot sax solo)
"Do You Know What It Means To Miss...
Here's what I came up with:
"Let Me Be Your Song" (as sung and played by the Electric Mayhem in a rare acoustic set)
"I Sniff The Rose" (as sung by Gonzo)
"Do It On My Own" (as sung by Miss Piggy)
"Dum Of A Son Of A Gun"
Skeeter Muppet and I were actually thinking about this one, here's what we came up with:
"Halfway Down The Stairs" (sung by Robin, making a cameo)
"I'm Five" (also by Robin...it could be "Bring Your Nephew To Work Day" for Kermit!)
"The Rhyming Song" (sung by Grover, Bert, Ernie, and...
Actually, Alan Arkin isn't on "Sesame Street" anymore. He was in the early 70's, he played a guy named Larry. Larry and his girlfriend Phyllis (I forget who played her) were in several skits that taught cooperation.
Ruth Buzzi *was* on "Sesame Street" in the mid-90's, but I haven't seen her...
SPECIAL GUEST STAR: BOB McGRATH
SCOOTER: Bob McGrath, 15 seconds to curtain, Mr. McGrath!
BOB: Thanks, Scooter. You know, I came on this show for two reasons--one, to catch up with my old friend Kermit, and the other, to take a break from my neighborhood. A lot of nice folks there, but...
Zoot actually reminds me more of Miles Davis than anyone else. Case in point:
When my dad was a teenager, he went to a club in Detroit to hear Miles Davis play. Miles played for about 20 minutes, messed around on his trumpet for a while, and took off. During those 20 minutes he also spent...
I forgot to mention that I also have some CD's with Bernadette Peters on them, and some other old records (besides My Fair Lady) that have Julie Andrews ("The Sound Of Music" and "Mary Poppins"), not to mention a record of Danny Kaye--performing his songs from "Hans Christian Andersen" on one...
